Unable to flash Octopus V1.1
Tried a few things so far:
- Flashing via SD card (firmware.bin does not change to FIRMWARE.CUR)
- Flashing via DFU - get "Octopus V1.1 detected but is unresponsive."
- Automatically flashing - also fails
...
Solution:
Any issues writing to the SD card? Tried a different card?
After flashing via DFU, have you tried skipping to the next step in the configurator? (manually change the step number in the URL)...
Hotend thermistor reading 129c at room temp
I'm using the 42 v1.2 toolboard and the Rapido that comes with the V4 kit. As near as I can tell I have everything selected correctly but the I still get an incorrect reading. I have the jumper in place for the enhanced temp reading as instructed in the build guide. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong...
Print randomly stops
I was 3 days into a print and went to check on my printer only to find it had stopped. I managed to measure where it left off at, cut my object in slicer and went back at it. A couple hours into the print again I came home to it having stopped and gave me this error again. What's going on and why is it randomly stopping mid print?
TMC 'extruder' reports error: GSTAT: 00000001 reset=1(Reset)
keep getting this issue, happens when printer is both enclosed and not enclosed so I don't think its a extruder temp issue (although when i have had the printer enclosed (55c chamber) the e motor is so hot you can only touch it for a second without burning yourself. unplugged and repluged extruder no difference made, stock VC4 400 hybrid with max ez 48v motion system, tho extruder is stock.
Solution:
think the fix was a dogy cable
3.1 Suddenly 4028 Loses PWM control
Hello everyone, I have not used my printer in awhile, and Monday when I turn it on I realise my cooling fan has lost PWM control.
I ordered a new replacement fan but at 24Vs and this also had the same issue. No PWM control.
Measuring the PWM wire to ground shows range of between 0-6-12Vs going from 0-50-100% respectively. ...
Solution:
Problem was a shorted MCU, explains the sudden failure after working for 1.5 years.
Replaced the MCU and the fan (just in case the PWM module was damaged) and now everything works fine 👍...
Vcore4 500 stock hardware - Hotend keeps jamming on long prints
Just like the title says, my hotend keeps jamming during long prints.
The timing isnt consistent, and I have tried lots of things, including tuning retraction.
I am using Orca Slicer. It is a 0.4mm nozzle, not the default 0.6 that came on my hotend....
Solution:
Yep. Seems to be fixed now.
VCore3 Refresh- Notifications and Height Map
It's been several long months since I've been able to even turn on my rat rig and just updated everything. I got three error notifications and the height map calibration I ran was atrocious.
hot end temperature extreme fluctuation
All of a sudden hot end temperature started fluctuate very badly, but only when printing. If I move the hot end on the table with motors disabled even rapidly no change on temp. When adaptive bed meshing, no change or if I wiggle the wiring nothing change. Fan is at same state (off) when printing also. Any ideas?
Trobleshooting "Probe triggered prior to movement"
Hi there,
I have an V-minion that came fully assembled so I have no clue about it's internals.
It has been working nicely until yesterday I was printing some identical parts and after the third instance it started showing an error "Probe triggered prior to movement" just after starting calibration....
No Voltage on Octopus V1.1 J26 pins?

if you need any other info, let me know 😉...
for days or hours it loses the z-offset
Hello, I wanted to ask about a problem I've had for a while. Now I have the Superpinda. I leave the Z-offset perfect, maybe in a few days I will be printing several pieces correctly. For a few hours. Then something happens and the nozzle rubs against the bed. And I have to recalibrate the Z offset. I have Ratos 2.02 and the dynamic bed and I always do Z-tilt before printing, I have it activated. Thank
Clicking stepper motor.
After doing some calibrations for a bit. Printer has probably only been in motion for less than an hour going through the commissioning guide steps. It started up while I was doing my bed mesh and is very consistent. I’ll post it driving itself as well as me isolating it and driving it manually. Already emailed sales but maybe this can be fixed. Not sure…
Storage space used by ratos
Hi, I noticed a full disk space (almost 64gb) because of some log files. It is safe to delete them? I dont need the log files because they take up really big space (all space). Please see the attached picture, Thank you
Z wobble? Wave
Looking to get some thoughts on what might cause this ive had it on some prints and not others its not belt slipping to cause a layer shift but the whole print seems to wave on a very gradual pace and it returns to where it should be as it goes up. Just had a horrible print come out very wonky and 100% time to fix it now. Im taking the lead screws out to see how much those are bent if any, although it doesnt seem to match with the pitch so slightly confused.
Let me know if anyone has some ideas would be greatly appreciated!
It is in both directions, the nuts on the screws seem good along with the couplers..
Also its a vcore 3.1 enclosed 400mm...
VC3 Wifi Disconnecting Issues
Hello all, I am struggling with wifi disconnecting on my V Core 3. At random, mid print, once every day or three, the pi4b will drop from my wifi never to return. It continues printing just fine, but I lose the ability to control and monitor it with mainsail.
Why I think it's disconnecting: I suddenly lose the ability to open ratos.local, and I cannot find it in my router's connected devices anymore.
The reason I am asking here is that I have multiple other printers, 2 Sovol SV08's with their proprietary pi knock-off, and 3 other modified klipperized printers running on their own raspberry pi 4b's, same as the RatRig except set up starting from stock raspberry os. None of my other printers have ever had this issue, so I am suspecting it is software related, perhaps some configuration choice made by Ratos that I am not aware of. ...
V-Core 4 4028 Fan - Cannot Get PWM Working
Hello. I have a V-Core 4 that I have been using for a while, no issues. I wanted to solve the issue of the fan running at 100% while the printer boots and such, so I moved the ground pin to a spare heater terminal on the Octopus board and added it as an enable pin.
So what I have now:
V-Core 4, 300. Octopus 1.1 mainboard and EBB42 toolhead board.
4028 part cooling fan comes on when I want it to, not during boot. Great!...
Solution:
What I did wiring wise is: red/positive wire to Fan 7 positive port. Black/negative/ground to one of the heater mosfets, PA3 (enable pin in the config) - HE1. PWM wire (blue for the nidec fan. brown for the Sanyo I swapped to) to the negative terminal on Fan 5 (PD15).
No Beacon model loaded
When I first try to run BEACON_INITIAL_CALIBRATION
The printer homes X and y, but when it is time to home z, I get "no Beacon model loaded". What am I doing wrong?
I have a vc4 500 with ratos 2.1 rc2.
I did all the steps in the configurator and updated all packages on the machine....
Issue installing RatOS 2.1 on Raspberry
For the new V-Core 4 500, I try to follow https://docs.ratrig.com/v-core-4-0/v-core-eletronics. It points me to https://os.ratrig.com/docs/installation/. I installed successfully RatOS 2.0.2 (the latest stable), configured WiFi, setup the control board with flashing firmware and run the Mainsail, performing all updates. However later I have found, the V-Core 4 needs RatOS 2.1. So I downloaded https://github.com/Rat-OS/RatOS/releases/download/v2.1.0-RC2/2024-07-27-RatOS-2.1.0-RC2-armbian-CB1.img.xz (as I did similarly for the stable version before), installed that on the same SD card with Rufus (the recommended Balena Etcher always ended up with an error, and I was unable to resolve it) and inserted into Raspberry. Restarted, but after long time (waited 20 minutes at least, while the previous RatOS 2.0.2 created hotspot after just 3 minutes) still nothing happened, except red LED on, and green LED occasionally blinks. No RatOS hotspot created, nothing...
If I shut Raspberry down, put out the SD and turn on, RED + GREEN LEDS are constantly on, and also nothing - no hotspot created, nor connected to WiFi.
Any idea please?...
Solution:
The CB1 image is for a CB1. You want the image for the raspberry pi
Part cooling fat goes to 100% "randomly"
checked wiring, c hecked setup wizard, its on EBB43 digital pwm on 2pin port
