Over extruded overhangs but only in some places
Hello #fix-my-print gurus !!
3do ASA, using the regular profile in SuSl with 5% extra cooling for overhangs, 255° temp, 115 bed (105 does not stick well to PEI) , 100mm/s, 0.3mm layer ,VC500 Rapido HF 0.4 nozzle.
The overall print looks excellent, except a single place where the overhang is a bit over extruded, looks like it, but the other identical side is perfect......
See pics for reference........
weird surface artifacts
I am tuning my printer and was doing an acceleration test and got a really weird finish, the print feels rough like shark skin, which I hadn't seen before so was wonder what caused it, on on rrf with an accelerometer and the vcore 3.1, current test was 150mm/s, with starting accel at 1000mm/s/s going up to 6000mm/s/s
Perfect first layer but rough top layer after infill
I have this problem when printing a large flat area, about 90% of the bed.
First layer is spot on, but the layer on top of the infill is super rough and not connected.
I’m not sure if this is a slicer issue or z-offset issue, because the first layer is super consistent....
Y-axis dimensions is always smaller than x-axis dimensions
Have been trying to calibrate my Dimensional Accuracy and I know that rotation_distance shouldn't be adjusted.
However I have been printing 50mm calibration cube with shrinkage accounted for (99.7% for my pla), the x-axis is always spot on but the y-axis dimension is always smaller by 0.1-0.2mm on a 50mm cube...
Gaps in my perimeters.
I am getting gaps in my perimeters. Tried changing line width in my Extrusion Width settings in Super slicer, but the spacing is also linked to it, so I can't seem to reduce the spacing to increase the overlap.
3D Printer Fail-Safes
Just wondering how other people are managing over-night/remote printing? Are there any opportunities included in Klipper/RatOS to use a smoke detection system to power off the entire printer - or any other means of connecting an external trigger to the printer to make it more safe to do remote printing? Perhaps a visual monitor to review the printing area and if artifacts are outside of this zone the fail-safe is triggered?
(I know that it's not best practice to leave a printer un-manned - but in reality it's going to happen... as some prints are over 24hours and there's only so much coffee can achieve...)...
Bridge not connecting
Working on tuning my bridging and I have it looking decent so far, but I see on this print the initial bridge line isn't connecting all the way to the other part of the print, I did a test of it and observed it indeed stops before it gets to anchor onto the other side.
Anyone ever observe this in SS? Other prints with multiple lines of bridging on the same layer don't behave this one, perhaps it's because it's just 1 extrusion width at first?...
Perimeterlines not connected
Hi, my model has two perimeters as the outer wall. the perimeters are connected at the x-axis. not with the y axis. maybe someone can point me in the right direction
How would you print this to get best results, without using supports?
Supports are a bit too stuck on at some spots, and leaving a lot of marks everywhere. And even then, the results are not great. I thought about maybe splitting the part and gluing them together.
What would you do?...
First layers with artifacts on new V-Core 500
Hi,
I just got my V-Core 500 to print (kind of). However I'm struggling to get a good first layer (on one side it's too far off and on one sids it's too close). Also I'm getting extreme artifacts on the 2nd and 3rd layer (see picture).
My setup:...
Print in PETG
I'm tuning my print bed with PETG.. Getting the following result when print head travels from one corner to the next.. what is indicative of? heat is at 240, speed travel is pretty slow.. can someone give me an idea as to what setting they would look at first?
The start of print seems to miss the first few millimeters of extrusion
The first bit of extrusion after the purge seems to miss a few millimeters of extrusion. Currently I'm printing a skirt, which causes the issue to occur on the skirt rather than the print.
Any idea what causes this?
I'd eventually like to forgo the skirt....
Is this a z-offset issue?
The brim looks fine, but when it actually starting printing the object it’s super smooshed .
Belt tension and jerk questions
Hello,
I have a vcore 3.1 400mm enclosed printing mostly ABS. My belt tension is clearly too low but I'm not sure what values I should be tensioning too. Does anyone have a well working reference for the corexy belt measurement I should shoot for?
Additionally my pressure advance is clearly too low but when I run a tuning tower (or any print for that matter) my jerk will occasionally jump up to 10mm/s. Didn't see any settings for this in super slicer but I'm probably missing something. Any help on either question would be much appreciated, thanks....
What setting is causing these fat perimeter overhangs?
I'm getting these really fat lines on overhangs and I can't find the setting that controls it.
It's the fat blue line in the first pic, the second pic shows the 3dview and what it should look like. Feature type says it's a perimeter overhang, but I can't the relevant setting.
I'm using superslicer...
pressure advance issue ?
Any idea where the issue is ?
Pressure advance normally starts at seam level.
Or this is perhaps a flow issue ?...
taking off the pei sheet
when you have a good first layer and the z-offset is almost perfect ...
then you take off the pei sheet to remove a good sticking print ... you do another print with the same settings..and than your z-offset is no good anymore... such a difference when you take of the pei sheet...
Minor problems with ABS
I'm having three issues with my larger prints. I'm hoping for some suggestions to resolve them.
1. I'm printing on glass, with a water/gluestick spray mixture, I'm getting good adhesion, however once the part has cooled and released on its own, the center rises. This seems to be the exact opposite of what most encounter 🤔.
2. I have chamfers on all edges of the side that is on the bed. These chamfers do not come out clean.
3. I have what I think is a small amount of layer shift?...
