Relatively bland season even from a Corridor fan like myself.
Highlights for me include:...
Put This On: The Springboard Wardrobe
https://putthison.com/the-springboard-wardrobe/
I don't think this article has been posted here before. But I think it's a really nice introduction to some solid wardrobe options with Derek Guy's much better long-form writing rather than his twitter personality....

The Surprising Partnership of Next and Gap
https://retail-focus.co.uk/the-surprising-partnership-of-next-and-gap/
"Following on from other big retailers, Next and Gap deciding to partner up, we are set to see this partnership properly in action on the high street. It has been said that Next will open up five new Gap shop-in-shops within flagship stores. This was announced following the success of a pilot store in Oxford Street, London. The new shops are expected to be opened at the back end of 2022 in Lakeside, Manchester, and Birmingham."
It is fair to say that the Next deal has resurrected the status of Gap in the UK. Gap was forced to close down all 81 stores in the UK and Ireland between 2019 and 2020, which appeared to be a catastrophic ending in the UK for the American retailer....
Suede is NOT delicate
https://burk.blog/posts/suede-rant/
An post I wrote about how suede really isn’t delicate. I’m not entirely sure how this myth got started but any split or full grain suede will be fine if it gets wet with proper care.
No I don’t use nano protector sprays at all....
1930s New Yorker article: Coco Chanel's revolutionary style
https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/1931/03/14/31-rue-cambon I'm still just dipping my toes in fashion history, but it's cool to read contemporary accounts of stuff. Lots of interesting echoes with today in how designers get inspiration from sports clothing, working class style, etc.
To Menswear (Or Get Dressed) Is To Photograph
https://alittlebitofrest.com/2023/07/18/to-menswear-is-to-photograph/
TL;DR - I've been thinking how related my approach to dressing is to my other hobbies. I read a book on the philosophy of photography and I found some camaraderie between it and my menswear hobby! This focuses on the freedom of limitation, how art is a fiction (positive) and not a lie (negative), and that its just an exercise in showing off how we relate to the world. In some cases, an outfit is like a photograph of the emotions and actions we had at the moment we got inspired to put it together.
personally i make outfits randomly and keep them together, seldom making changes in order to preseve that inspiration (much like a photograph)...
An Ode to White Jackets & Suits (Pants Too, I Guess)
https://alittlebitofrest.com/2023/07/09/ode-to-white-suits-jackets-white-pants-palm-beach-cloth-too/
TL;DR white tailoring is always great and popular, but I make the case specifically for white suits and jackets since we talk about pants all the time. Plenty of vintage inspiration as well as contemporary. There's also a lot of old photos of me for old MFA heads who may have seen it before. You guys should know how much i love my white suits and jackets.
There's also a section on Palm Beach Cloth which was one of the most famous textiles for white suits back in the 1920s-1940s....
How I Buy Clothes
https://alittlebitofrest.com/2023/07/23/how-i-buy-clothes/
Wrote this (and did a pod) on how I buy clothes and ultimately how I engage with fashion.
TL;DR: being into vintage very early on exposed me to a lot of ideas and classic menswear designs, so i developed specific taste. Now I just buy things I couldn't find before rather than constantly "discovering" new things. Discovery still does happen (like with Visvim) but its usually tied to something I already like, rather than being jarring. in other words, try to hone taste, try on stuff, and explore things so that way you'll be in the right place to buy it ...or move on from it!...
How Millions Of Jeans Get Recycled Into New Pairs | Insider Business
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hV_-yJ6NiP8
We make more than a billion pairs of jeans every year. Like most clothing, the vast majority ends up in landfills. In Pakistan, which imports more used clothing than any other nation, one company has figured out a way to recycle old denim, saving water and energy....
