Have you noticed an uptick of merch collabs? Have you found yourself buying more merch recently? Share merch you've bought in the past year! >In the last year, 13-39-year-olds in the U.S. who purchased merch estimated they spent an average of $168 per person. This equates to...

NYE clothing styles

or what do you guys wear when you want to dress up but not look stuffy? This is an area I feel like women have a lot more options. They have a version of dressed up for work/funeral and a version of dressed up for getting after it, dancing, partying, etc. I feel like my options are a "nice" t-shirt which feels too casual next to my wife in a sultry dress or a button up shirt or ocbd which feels way too stuffy for partying on NYE....

Microculture research "Avant-Garde Streetwear"

Hello everyone, My name is Stan Geurts, and I am in my final year at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI). For my graduation project, I am conducting research into the fascinating microculture of avant-garde streetwear. My goal is to better understand the values, experiences, and perspectives that make this community so unique. If you feel connected to this microculture—or know someone who does—I would love to hear from you! Your insights would mean the world to me and greatly contribute to my research....

Yale's 20-Item Dress Study Style Guide

Found the style guide drafted by Yale's dress study group in the translation of Take Ivy (c 1965) and thought of it as the spiritual ancestor to the Basic Bastard, especially compared to the other articles being printed at the time (c 1961). Me being me, I saw an opportunity to try something out and followed the guide for a month (this was in March but I got sidetracked by fit battle and such). I posted my thoughts on Substack because there's a lot of pictures and Discord formatting sucks lol. https://imgur.com/a/ozsrUr2...

What are your favorite accessories and how do you use them to express yourself?

Accessories can really enhance an outfit. I have a couple pendants, bracelets, belts, scarves, but I think I could do more. What are you favorite accessories and how do you use them to express yourself?

What was I on in Summer 2024? A Style Retrospective

(adapted from ehf). This summer was a weird one in terms of clothes, especially post-fit battle. While there was a #topic-of-the-day about looking back on ones fits, I had (many) more thoughts that I felt were better served in their own thread. My intentions are mostly selfish, to have a reference of how I felt now that I have some distance and some lessons learned, but I figured I'd put it here in case you're like me and have difficulties with introspection or benefit from some structure in reflecting on these things. excited to wear this fall

I think it would be fun to have a discussion concerning what we're all excited to wear this fall, inspired by the Die, Workwear annual post of the same name. For me, I picked up a Jack Murphy of Ireland lightweight wool coat on sale in LATE winter last year, and it's really the perfect weight for weather between 32-50 F. Haven't been able to wear it outside yet, but green is my favourite color and I'm stoked to finally have a long coat in a nice green donegal wool. There's alot of color variation in the flecks, which will make pairing it with anything up top pretty braindead, and I'll probably live in my brown and tan cord pants, so really I'll only have to worry about my footwear....

What's inspiring everyone lately?

I feel like posting in #inspiration without a coherent theme in mind can seem daunting, kinda like another form of fitpic, but instead of your fit, it's your taste. I'm bringing this thread here as a place to expound on anything that's catalyzing your interesting in clothing right now, whether it be a garment you bought, a fit you saw, or anything that is generally activating your fabric fibres....

Inspiration Should Compel You To Make Outfits

https://alittlebitofrest.com/2024/08/12/how-inspiration-gets-me-to-make-outfits/ https://soundcloud.com/styleanddirection/sadinspiration?si=0e95bf2593524431a895f3421bf102d4&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing I wrote a blog post on Inspiration and how it factors into making outfits. Its less about trying something new ("wow I've never thought of that before") and more so dressing in service of an inspo picture, using what you may already have. ...

American Trench Cotton Linen Shorts Quick Review

I've never been much of a "shorts" guy so this summer I decided to experiment a little bit more and branch out. I gravitate less to the hoochie-daddy, super tight around the thighs look, and most of what I've been looking at has been with a longer inseam and decidedly slouchier. This week I picked up the American Trench Cotton Linen short after eyeballing them for a bit, so here ...

How To Stay Excited To Dress Up When Its Warm

This is probably dumb because I'm aware that it's smarter to just wear a tee shirt and shorts when its hot but fuck it im gonna stay dressed anyway because I love it. So here's an article and pod about how we make it happen lol TL;DR - Don't have a defeatest view on summer clothes. Instead, have warm weather clothes you actually like and you feel inspired to wear! - Make summer looks/POV that you enjoy: riviera, 70s casual, disco, gorp, etc....

did a lil retrospective of my fave outfits over the past three(ish) years to reflect a little bit

https://imgur.com/a/E2GrVaU Basically just wanted to see where I am, what’s happenin’, how I wanna proceed. Probably gonna mix in some more tailoring again (mostly for practical purposes with work events etc) but largely, I’m really happy with where I’m at. Selling most of my designer stuff was absolutely the right move for me. I feel like I get more wear out of what I’ve got, and it feels way more “me” for lack of a better word. Always open to questions, so gimme a holler if you want!...
