TKMax/ Outlets
A friend of mine who owns a clothes shop recently told me how he considers he was duped by a fairly well known clothing brand in the UK, into stocking their products, when they told him he would be the only stockist in quite a wide radius. He later found out that the brand is stocked in TKMaxx . When he challenged the brand about this they basically told him, don't worry, TKM doesn't get the "real deal" , they get different products which have the same label but aren't made to the same quality. Understandably he wasn't best satisfied with this answer.
I wasn't surprised to hear this because I know how outlets and TK Maxx work but it was apparently news to him.
Anyway it got me thinking about what other brands do this and how widely understood the practice is. Has anyone ever seen (or made) a list or guide to which labels do this sort of thing? TKM is often packed with PRL for example, but often the products look cheap or poor quality compared to what you see in proper PRL stores....
Adding elements of Androgyny & Femininity to your style
Yo yo MFAD folks.
I'm looking for some inspo on more feminine / androgynous style. I recognize this community is primarily focused on male fashion, but I'd love to see some of your best fits that incorporate elements of more traditionally feminine items, as well as some generally androgynous vibes.
Preferred brands, influencer accounts, specific users here to keep an eye on, etc. would be helpful too. ...
GWU Textile Museum Exhibitions: "Intrinsic Beauty", "Art Uncovered", "Textiles 101"
Despite being native to the Greater Washington DC Area AND attending George Washington University I never visited GWU's Museum museum, having recently launched their centennial celebration.
The current exhibitions, "Intrinsic Beauty: Celebrating the Art of Textiles" and "Art Uncovered: Visionary Textile Scholars and their Archives", as well as the "Textiles 101 Gallery", all offered a thoughtful and detailed yet easy to grasp take on the history and merits of the curated pieces.
Given it's cost (free) and location (near the White House and a 10 minute walk from the closest metro station), I recommend it if you're in the area or visiting, whether you have a deep interest in textiles, enjoy discovering new information on fabrics, or want to learn more about fabric. ...

"How Designer Brands Keep You Poor". Thoughts?
https://youtu.be/UzJQiqhldXo?si=yPgauw7zgGAn8QgV
So I've seen this video several times now. Putting brands aside, the video doesn't give much in the way of high-quality clothing alternatives. It does imply that rich people to go TJ Maxx for their clothes lmao....

Sweaters! Favourites you own? Favourites you don't?
I'm really appreciating the new sweater I got recently from Arpenteur and remembered that they're a pretty core part of my wardrobe.
What are your favourites and why?...

Wardrobe Analysis 2.0

One of the first things I did after joining here last year was to do a wardrobe analysis series of outfits. After a year on here and MFA discord I wanted to do it again. The basic idea is to do a little lookbook that features essentially everything I own (there are a few ties, a navy sweater, a hat and maybe a scarf missing but I think that’s it). I tried to do it by repeating as few items as possible, mostly just a few jeans and a couple shoes. I didn’t have time to do all new pictures so some are from fits in the last few months. ...
