Considering brands when shopping

I've been thinking about brands somewhat. When I'm shopping for clothing, I've been generally latching towards some brands (Levi's, PRL) and I'm starting to realize that this may not be the right approach for fashion shopping, especially now that luxury brands like Burberry have become a bit more accessible on the second hand market.
At the same time, I don't usually buy from Fast Fashion. I'm trying to buy quality clothes that last, I'm not interested in throwing away clothes after a few wears.
So when I'm shopping for clothes, for example in thrift stores or second hand clothing stores, should I give brand choice a consideration?

Finding a style
So recently, I've been doing a few things to help start to get a sense of fashion style. I've been saving images from #waywt and #inspiration into a folder on my Mac, and I've also been putting some pictures on an Instagram collection. Yet, Instagram still primarily shows me cat pics and I'm not sure if I'm on the right track when it comes to finding a style I like. It's still pretty blurry for me.
What else could I do to help on this journey of finding a style?

Comfortable and durable shoes for commuting 🇬🇧

So I've been wearing jeans for a long time, all of my adult life at this point and before that but while I still like wearing jeans, I want to switch up my style and try new items of clothing that I might not have before.
What are some good types of trousers other than jeans for a university environment?
