Adding elements of Androgyny & Femininity to your style
Yo yo MFAD folks.
I'm looking for some inspo on more feminine / androgynous style. I recognize this community is primarily focused on male fashion, but I'd love to see some of your best fits that incorporate elements of more traditionally feminine items, as well as some generally androgynous vibes.
Preferred brands, influencer accounts, specific users here to keep an eye on, etc. would be helpful too.
The substack / old MFA guides were super helpful for me to learn a lot back in the 2010s - is there anything similar you know of for feminine and androgynous looks?

This barely scratches the surface, and i think what you're looking for is maybe more common here than you realize.
i like feminine hair styles, jewlry, and glasses! additionally, people tend to perceive more high waisted looks as feminine for some reason?
it can be hard to find clothing from the women’s section if you are a certain hight/body type, but sticking to clothing worn by both genders is helpful
As for influencers I‘m a big fan of @ jarvali
(I just took forever to find out his name omg) @ seannaltman
I have so many of his looks in my inspo
yeah i've noticed this too, and much prefer high waisted so it works in my favor here
killer account
It's definitely present, just definitely in the minority since it's a primarily male space here. thankfully inclusive tho

oh hell yea
Probably obvious: you watch Queer Eye?

I guess what kind of feminine vibes are you going for?
Would be helpful to see examples but accessories help a lot to achieve this and any look
& nail polish, shoes, make up.
Brooch probably a nice subtle way to spice things up a little without having to buy entire new outfits
https://www.etsy.com/listing/598062884/eggshell-cream-felt-oversized-rosette this is big but on a nice dark solid colored shirt could be really cute
as a woman who dresses pretty androgynous usually, i find that POINTED SHOES!!! are a really easy way to make your whole fit appear shockingly feminine
idek if i dress androgynous so much as like. shirt and pants
whatever that is
pointy shoes the Goat
yes defooo
yeah pointy shoes def immediately make me think "fem" since it's typically a no go for men's clothes, good idea
a few quick examples i had on my phone, largely from this community lol

so somewhere between andro, fem, and what we used to call “[sand, goth, etc] ninja” on the MFA sub
a few more from recent WAYWT highlights

i wouldn't even know where to find these clothes. local mall is ass
Realistically it's a gamut, basically all of the inspo posted is from designer brands, aside from maybe bishop and twiggy (both great fits). bishop is a DIY king and alters a lot of the stuff he thrifts, and Twiggy is great at finding vintage pieces on Vinted EU. Rick, CDG, and Yohji are featured in the darkwear outfits and Dries, Lemaire, etc. for the others

thrifting def doable and I want to learn to sew anyway so that might be the best way forward
it has worked well for me historically to thrift
On a budget, you can grab pants from Uniqlo (women's or mens section wide cut) for stuff closer to this, and possibly thrift, and COS has a lot of decent options that go on sale as well, across both sections.

oh fuck yea, thanks for that link
npnp
Oh there‘s me in there!
The top is actually from Esprit, I got it at my local mall lol
The pants are from an Austrian designer tbf (Lena Hoschek, but she only does women‘s sizes sadly)
thanks for that info Twiggy, your fits rule!!
Thank you so much!!
depends which direction you want to take it but Comme Des Garcons and its sublines, esp stuff like Noir Kei Ninomiya, are good inspiration, as is Ann Demeulemeester, Yohji Yamamoto, etc. Additionally, she's not actively on social media anymore, but Dylan has had an incredible backlog of fits https://www.reddit.com/user/KodiakTheBear9/

You can also look to brands like Cecile Bahnsen, Simone Rocha, etc

for a comprehensive brand list in that vein
not my fit yesterday being baserange cecilie bahnsen sandy liang simone rocha :xd:
lmao kyn really summoned you and left the server a month before you appeared, modern tragedy
Literally my Vestiaire wishlist
I am not trad volcel though
Emoji covered face is me 🤠 as far as where everything came from: the pants are cheap Uniqlo, top is from Ottolinger via ssense, I made the blazer and the boots are second hand acne that my partner got off ttr. This is a great thread! Right up my alley
I will say, as far as footwear goes, chunky heeled boots are androgynous imo. Or chunky/heeled/platform in general can read as more androgynous. But I also love a big shoe
this is SO helpful!!
and i agree in the boot fits! i’ve been looking for a chunky black heeled boot or shoe
your fit is basically the exact vibe. i’m ready to ascend
imo the biggest secret is cunting it up
especially as in wearing combinations and shit that isn’t “normal”
break the norms, eat it up
headscarves / head coverings that aren't standard caps/hats come to mind
ex-

very cool
Could always wear a ladies watch.
