I recently found myself back to just one job (thankfully, it's my main role). I was laid off from my second job three weeks ago, which has been tough. To give you some context: I lost my initial job (J0) in June 2023, but fortunately secured J1 and J2 between October 2023 and January 2024. Sadly, my time at J2 ended in November 2024 after nearly a year, though I did receive a one-month severance package that runs through the end of this month.
Now, Iām grappling with how to present my experience. Should I include J2 on my resume when applying for new roles? Also, does the gap from June 2023 to November 2024 stand out as a major red flag for hiring managers? Iāve been applying tirelessly for four months now but havenāt been able to secure a third job (J3). Itās incredibly frustrating!

Wanted to ask how folks would configure a networking setup to access USA financial accounts online w/o alerting them to your foreign residence after you move abroad. I know the two glinet routers to your home IP is the recommendation but wouldn't work in this case since you no longer have a domestic residence and/or ISP. Let's assume that you don't have a friend who would allow you to connect to their ISP.
Would the next best thing be to route traffic to a static residential proxy through some VPN client like Wireguard or Tailscale? My concern here is the quality of the residential IP; not sure if the conventional wisdom is that the residential proxy IPs sold online are as "contaminated" as the IPs via the commercial VPN services like Proton VPN or Nord VPN.
Regarding proxy providers, I've heard that Windscribe is good for cost-effective static residential IPs, but would welcome any other recommendations....

One of the Engineers on our team quit and my manager sent me the job description and asked me to make sure it was accurate. Out of curiosity I asked what the budget for her role was and found out it's 20% more as a Senior Engineer vs a regular Engineer (me). The role is more of a generalist role across multiple databases vs a specialist role in a single database (me). This J already has alot of meetings, but I really only talk in 2 (the standups).
I know I can do the role of the senior engineer. Is it worth it to ask for that role to get the pay bump?
My thought process is as follows. I could take the 20% bump and still look for J3, or leave things as is and look for J3. I don't really do much in J2, but the amount of meetings compared to what we actually do are ridiculous. I have no intention on being here more than 1-2 years and if I found another J where I work as much as I do at J1 I wouldn't be at J2. ...

You said that you were hired to grow into the role. Have you grown yet or are you still learning? If itās the latter then a promotion isnāt going to happen.
As for the superstar, that has nothing to do with you. Our board is filled with people who tried to get promoted doing that and got taken for granted. Even if you work in a rare organization where promotions are earned on merit, he may be first in line but there will be other roles for you to get promoted into....

The HR rep at the new J wants me to get an employment verification and have them send it to her email address, but given the size of the old firm this is literally not possible.
