What's the MO on trying to return laptops to ex-employers? Assuming I have no point of contact. Should I let them know via certified mail or someting

Like at what point can I consider the property abandoned if I try to contact them enough and tehy don't respond

you can use fedex w/ tracking number
oh
usually the "accounting" for these falls off after 3 years
but really depends on their policies
i've seen 3, i've also seen 4

So if they don't respond to that email... what should I do haha. Because I'm going to move in a year and I don't want to lug around their equipment with me

you can just let it go lol
you did your case

AWS REFUSED to take back two laptops. Luckily I held on to a return shipping label.

How does that absolve you of legal liability?
I just don't want to be in a situation where I'm used as free storage for the laptop bc I don't know when they might want it back in the future

Oh I ended up shipping them both back, made a video of me doing so. But reading through threads on Blind it seems like they really didn't want the laptops back.

Thanks!

Usually they ask for it and provide you a return label. If they don’t do that I’d ask the former boss for the label. If he ignores you then you have a nice new door stop.
