Addressing top of toe friction in Solovair derbies
I’ve had a long and fraught relationship with my Solovair Greasy Grain Gibsons since I got them in the early Summer, particularly with breaking them in. Although they initially were wrecking my heels and the sides of my pinky toes, after using a shoe stretcher and wearing them at the office as often as possible, I’ve gotten them broken in to the point where they are comfortable with the exception of one spot (on both feet)- the top of my pinky toe (essentially just above the cuticle for the toenail) is getting a lot of friction as I walk and over time it causes blisters.
Is there a way to address this pressure point and either loosen it or stretch it? My shoe stretcher doesn’t seem designed to stretch the top of the shoe (it has bunion plugs but those are for the sides, and it has a pad to raise the vamp but that seems like it’s too far back to be the issue)? Or is it just an inherent issue with the last? I’m trying to avoid giving up on these shoes because they’re so beautiful, but I can’t walk more than 30 minutes in them without dealing with the consequences!
Thanks 🙏...
Where can I buy a decent Harrington Jacket in Canada for less than $150?
Looking for a nice casual/semi-formal light jacket in khaki, olive, brown, or navy blue for $100-$150 in Canada preferably online. I'm looking for something to wear this fall. Not very interested in used jackets though.
Something like this but I need options to see if I can save some cents: https://www.levi.com/CA/en_CA/clothing/men/outerwear/baker-harrington-jacket/p/A72350001...
comfy baggy jeans, similar to hollister
I recently bought my first pair of jeans, they were a baggy light wash pair from hollister and they are super soft and comfortable. I decided I liked jeans now so I went shopping for more but I can't seem to find comfortable jeans anywhere else, I went to pacsun and not only did they feel scratchy and stiff they felt very tight against my thighs and butt which isn't necessarily what I'm looking for. I have relatively good sized legs and my waist is 28 inches though so I get that they might be ma...
hookless belts?
just bought a pair of pants that came with a belt thats not like a classic belt(with holes and a hook thing to fasten in place) and i now just realised ive never worn this type of belt and it keeps loosening itself when i pull it to be the correct size.
is there a special way to set it in place or is this just how hookless belts are?
i m into the hookless belt look as of late and really want to actually utilise and keep buying em for the future...
fit check for thrifted clothes
Hi, posting pictures of clothes that I thrifted for the first time, also first time buying clothes with intent. Please ignore the white paint on the blundstones lol, these are the only boots I have and I painted with them lol. Any feedback of any kind is highly appreciated, I'm mostly concerned about length.
Tips on improving my work style
I almost wear exclusively Uniqlo, usually polos and trousers. But I want to make my style a bit more interesting. Just curious what people suggest
advice on buying 2nd hand/thrifted boots

Light brown derby shoes
Hi all!
I'm on the lookout for light brown derby shoes, that I could wear with jeans or chinos - i.e. can be dressed up or down.
I really like the Paraboot Chambord in light brown. The price is a little intimidating though...
I was wondering if you have some alternatives that you would recommend?...
Do clothes that look too long on you look better as you bulk?
Not sure how to phrase this question, but I have some clothes that I thrifted that I really like, I'm not sure they fit me well (I'll create a thread tomorrow) and they fit me kinda long, since I'm 5"7 125lbs. My question is, if you bulk up to around 160lbs or more, do shirts or jackets that look too long for you start to fit better? Or is this only a height thing? If it is, does it mean I need to either get garments tailored or buy a smaller size that might fit too tightly? (Like S compared to...
Sweater Polo with OCBD?
Hi everyone. I really liked this Inis Meain sweater with a polo style collar. I am thinking I would like to wear it over an ocbd and tie. I'm pretty confident that it would look good, but sort of wanted some second opinions before pulling the trigger on it. As soon as I saw the sweater, it reminded me of this outfit from Poirot that I always loved.
Help me find a pair of jeans that are jeans but don't look like jeans!
What's up. Looking for a pair of black denim that fits straight legged (like 8-10in opening). The main problem is that my office technically doesn't allow denim, but I think if it's black it'll slide by ok. But because of this, the less it looks like denim (slubbiness? My terminology is kinda rusty) and the less prone to fading it is (since it's black idk if that really matters anyway) the better. Looking for a mid rise cut, no preference to weight, no budget!
can someone help me check if this is real
My uncle gave me this jacket yesterday and I can’t tell if it’s real, it’s a Pyrenex jacket
Smart Casual for European Business Trip
Heading on a trip to Europe for business and the dress code is considered smart casual. I’ve not heard smart casual before, but I am familiar with business casual. Any suggestions on what would be considered smart casual?

Has anyone heard of a clothing brand called Milestone? Is it any good?
There's a menswear store near me that sells some Milestone clothing (mainly jackets) but I haven't seen many reviews about them online.
It seems they're a German company. Their website: https://www.milestone.de/
I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with them?...
boots too big?
So I bought a pair of size 7 Thursday Boots stomper. I wear 7.5/8 US in adidas sneakers.
They recommend half a size down from sneaker size.
I’m short and skinny so I’m afraid they will look like clown shoes on me lol...
Crown Northampton Sneakers: Too Big or Keep?
Hi there, recently received a pair of Crown Northampton sneakers that look awesome.
However I think they might be a smidge too big for me. Per the suggestion of their representatives, they suggested sizing up a half size on top of what they already suggest as a half size up, resulting in a full size up from my US size, to account for width.
This leaves around an inch of space from the top of my toe, around the end of my thumb in one of the pictures. I've had shoes with this amount of space in the toe box before, but they are dress shoes with narrower toe shape, so it felt less bulky than it does on these. Also worth mentioning that their sole inserts have an arch which lands slightly ahead of my Own arch, which makes sense if the shoes are larger than my natural size. ...
WTF is Orslow shirt sizing really?
Trying to buy a shirt from them second hand from somewhere, "Size 2", the measurements are stated in CM and line up with what should be an M for other shirts I own although I'm not sure how they measured them
Comparing it to websites that sell their shirts new and some describe a "2" as a Medium, but I'm seeing others describe them as small and one as XS. What gives? What is a 2 really?...
