Brand/Material advice for a mechanic?

I've been trying to dress better over the last month but unfortunately I'm not sure what I should do for work clothes as I'm tired of looking homeless everytime I go into a shop. While style is important I also want to balance it out with my clothes not getting ruined by grease, oil, rust, etc. Anyone have any tips for fabrics/brands I should be looking at? Right now I just use old black shirts and pants from previous jobs but I want to mix it up a little. Budget : <$100 pants, <30$ shirts. I'm ok with waiting to buy, I prefer online and new rather than used. Typically a medium shirt and 33x30 in pants....

dyeing my hair

I really want to dye my hair. I’m on the fuller side, Caucasian, and I have a light brown / reddish beard which I would like to keep. Which color should I dye my hair? I know bleaching would work but which shade should I tell the hair salon to do?...

What to wear with copper leather boots?

How do I fashion Red Wings Iron Rangers in the copper color for a university setting? I want that rugged, masculine look and want to make an impression. Do I go with jeans and a flannel, or perhaps a crew neck and a leather jacket? I wouldn’t know what color clothing to wear. I really appreciate any help you can provide....

Ridiculous question...

I see references to different "types" of style (traditional, bohemian, softboy, etc.) and it seems like many have subcategories. I can make guesses in some cases, but in others I have literally "no" idea what it means. I can obviously Google but in some cases the results seem.....dubious. Suggestions on the best way to build an understanding of this? Are there guides I missed or (trustworthy) ones elsewhere? Is it even necessary for a 40's dad/professional who is 98% certain some slight variation of "traditional" is where he will land?...

What do you think about this jacket/how it fits?

I tried on this jacket earlier today and I like it but I thought the sleeves were probably too long (as usual...) I'm wondering what people here think of it and how it fits?...

Levi's

I ordered Levi's 501 Original Fit Men's Jeans Clean Rigid - Dark Wash - Non Stretch 29W X 32L from Levi's Canada's website and recieved black jeans instead. Does this mean the warehouse is out of Clean Rigid or was it a mistake? I returned the black jeans but want to get the right colour. Here's a link to the pants: https://www.levi.com/CA/en_CA/clothing/men/jeans/straight/501-original-fit-mens-jeans/p/005010536 Thanks in advance for helping...

Charles Tyrwhitt 3 for $99

Hi all, Just joined so if this is the wrong spot, please point me in the right direction! Was planning to pick up some new dress shirts and I have always-always-always been able to find their 3 for $99 deal easily online if it wasn't immediately front and center on their website. For the life of me, I can't find anything the past month or two. ...

Designer/Good Quality Brown Jackets/Cardigans

As I (kind of) said earlier (https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1255197478312087672/1294399434876129280), a common element in my fashion inspiration folder has been brown cardigans or jackets. Some examples of what I'm thinking of: https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1116800072093532191/1292904242310283285 https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1116800072093532191/1293209047717253214 Budget: Up to £500 (up than my usual budget, because Christmas is coming up :linkSanta: ) Location: UK....

Nylon MA1 - Dryclean Before Wear?

If someone could help me out here I'd really appreciate it. Recently got an alpha industries bomber jacket and I'm in love with it, I want to wear it right away! I usually wash everything I get before wearing, the care instructions say dry clean only. Should I dryclean before wearing, or is this unnecessary? Thanks :)

wool pants/clothing questions

Hey all, hopefully my terminology is all good but with the season change I had some questions about wool clothing in general. 1. First off, what percentage of wool is considered good? I see 100% wool outer shell coats with synthetic inner linings, or wool blend socks etc. if one is looking for something of good quality, what’s a good basic number to look for?
2. How does one identify tweed? From Google, tweed is wool…so if something isn’t specifically labeled as tweed how do you tell? For example I saw a nice blazer (what i thought was nice) in banana republic last weekend - It had a good weight to it. It was thick and warm with a bit rougher texture and look to it. I thought it might be tweed but it wasn’t labeled as such....

Alternative wedding outfits

I'm getting married next summer and I don't feel comfortable in either a dress or a suit, and just wearing a dress shirt is too boring and mundane for me to wear to my wedding. Does anyone have ideas/inspiration on directions I could take my outfit in?

Addressing top of toe friction in Solovair derbies

I’ve had a long and fraught relationship with my Solovair Greasy Grain Gibsons since I got them in the early Summer, particularly with breaking them in. Although they initially were wrecking my heels and the sides of my pinky toes, after using a shoe stretcher and wearing them at the office as often as possible, I’ve gotten them broken in to the point where they are comfortable with the exception of one spot (on both feet)- the top of my pinky toe (essentially just above the cuticle for the toenail) is getting a lot of friction as I walk and over time it causes blisters. Is there a way to address this pressure point and either loosen it or stretch it? My shoe stretcher doesn’t seem designed to stretch the top of the shoe (it has bunion plugs but those are for the sides, and it has a pad to raise the vamp but that seems like it’s too far back to be the issue)? Or is it just an inherent issue with the last? I’m trying to avoid giving up on these shoes because they’re so beautiful, but I can’t walk more than 30 minutes in them without dealing with the consequences! Thanks 🙏...

Where can I buy a decent Harrington Jacket in Canada for less than $150?

Looking for a nice casual/semi-formal light jacket in khaki, olive, brown, or navy blue for $100-$150 in Canada preferably online. I'm looking for something to wear this fall. Not very interested in used jackets though. Something like this but I need options to see if I can save some cents: https://www.levi.com/CA/en_CA/clothing/men/outerwear/baker-harrington-jacket/p/A72350001...

comfy baggy jeans, similar to hollister

I recently bought my first pair of jeans, they were a baggy light wash pair from hollister and they are super soft and comfortable. I decided I liked jeans now so I went shopping for more but I can't seem to find comfortable jeans anywhere else, I went to pacsun and not only did they feel scratchy and stiff they felt very tight against my thighs and butt which isn't necessarily what I'm looking for. I have relatively good sized legs and my waist is 28 inches though so I get that they might be ma...
