sleek Oxfords for high instep
In the process pf returning Meermin hand welted pair. Lovely shoes, but too narrow and low in my size, sizing up might work but probably just be too long.
Cheaney I was able to try the Lime model here in Dublin, honestly wasn’t impressed, felt cheap. Loake Aldwych fit well enough, just look a bit clunky with a larger sole etc.
thanks for the suggestions, really appreciate it.
I’m probably putting more thought into it all than warranted, as I’ll be married in them

wholecuts and lace gaps
Thanks folks, I’m sending them back and going to look at something else.
Not totally averse to regular oxfords, just like the idea of the wholecut to make it a bit different. Definitely more options in the regular though

Ivory dinner jacket
I’ve decided to give it a go and have it made, had some conversations with him and seems like a good chance of it coming out well. Always possible /likely to need some alterations when I get it next month, but hopefully minor

It is an a schild movement, but not a sears tradition. This tradition was a mid tier/budget brand seems to have been fairly short lived. Can't remember the movement reference (haven't had it open since servicing couple years ago), but I think it was something used widely until about 72

what should I be asking the tailor to do with this suit?
@scorchedearth yeah, I'm enjoying the more traditional fits these days as well. Definitely more comfortable, and think they're more flattering when things can drape a bit

what should I be asking the tailor to do with this suit?
Thanks all. Llbeans, think you're right about the waist - it is the relaxed feel I like most about it. Hasn't been cleaned or pressed in a long time, that alone might help with the back
