Recently bought leather sneakers, are my laces short? WTD?
Not sure if it’ll solve your issue, but it looks like you should tighten up the lacing quite a bit. If the size and fit are good, the lacing should be pretty tight to ensure you don’t get rubbing that leads to blisters or sore spots.

I’ve gotten several things from Freenote Cloth lately. I couldn’t use them for all occasions, as they don’t have business attire, but apart from that, I could live pretty comfortably wearing their stuff exclusively. They even have pretty extensive footwear options

Good to know. I only have a long-sleeve Riviera polo, but I do like it. I prefer its structured collar to some of my other polos

Casual shoe brands under $220
They have a lot of colors, and for myself I prefer off-white for casual wear. Brought it up because OP mentioned sneaker brands, but you can good basic loafers for the same price

There are a lot of second hand/vintage/thrift stores in the LA area. And places like Nordstrom Rack have new designer brand clothes at really low prices, if you find something you like there

Never thought about matching skin tone — interesting concept. As said, any shade of brown is probably more versatile than blue. Light brown should go well with a variety of pants

White shirt with whatever collar works best for the tie and knot you prefer.
Regarding the tie, I’d definitely recommend a solid color and silk, as dark as you can get in whatever color you choose. Black is traditional, but you may never wear it apart from a funeral. A very dark blue is just as acceptable and is more versatile for other occasions.

High Quality Poloshirts for wide shoulders
I have a Sunspel Riviera polo, but only the long sleeve. I want to try a short sleeve version. But in a large, it’s a nice fit. I’m 5’11”, 195 lbs, broad in the shoulders and chest.

The above looks as good a way as any. Aluminum compounds in antiperspirants produce yellow stains when mixed with sweat. That’s why I started always wearing undershirts, even with T-shirts

Is a black suit ever worth buying?
For most men, I don’t think the first three suits purchased should include black, if any, particularly if you have a light skin color — a tuxedo notwithstanding. If you’re a classical musician performing in concert or have a need due to a religious affiliation or want to buy one to wear at a funeral, that’s different. At the last funeral I attended, I wore a dark navy suit with an even darker blue tie that probably looked black indoors.
If you’re not comfortable wearing the crap black at work and for that reason you want a better suit to wear while working, I get that. But otherwise I’d advise to spend your hard-earned money elsewhere.
It sounds like you’re forced to buy something black for work, but I’d not spend anymore than you need to. If you do spend just a little extra to get it properly tailored, you’ll have a suit that fits well even if the material and construction aren’t the greatest. With a really good fit, you may feel better about what you’re wearing — and stand out a bit from among your co-workers.
