Bag Alternatives
I’ve had a few from WaterField Designs. They impressed me for their quality, design, and price. Not cheap but nice https://www.sfbags.com

trousers other than jeans for a university environment
I can’t get past a mental block I have against corduroy, unreasonably perceiving it as a cheesy ‘70s material

Chinos are a good jeans alternative, can range from casual to somewhat dressy

Bonobos in-store fitting experience?
I got two pairs of chinos and some shorts after a fitting a few months ago. All fit well. They can pretty quickly, and all seemed worth the price, pretty well made.

how do I transform my look to attract more women?
I think you may be like me, having a frame with a longer torso relative to the length of my legs. With legs that look relatively short, it can help to have pants with a higher rise and a thin, discreet, or no belt — like having side tabs on dress pants instead of belt loops. Avoiding long shirts especially untucked can help. Generally I advocate having clothes that fit well in a style you’re comfortable with.

Glasses
Those were the first prescription glasses I got. I actually lost em for a while and eventually replaced them with some acetate sunglass frames with photochromic lenses. I get more compliments on those, even when worn indoors. For that first pair, I wanted something that almost looked like I wasn’t wearing glasses. They’re great for that and super light, so you forget you have em on. Now I feel like my new frames are more stylish, and I wear those more. Both are nice in their own ways

Glasses
I got them from my optometrist, but you can find Silhouette frames at a lot of places, online stores included. You can even find frames used. If you know your bridge width and temple length, you can even find such frames used and get prescription lenses made to go with them.

Demystifying leather belt quality
I’m waiting for a Horween No 8 Chromexcel belt and a matching pair of desert shoes, from Crown Northampton. That’ll be the most expensive belt I’ve bought. Hope it’s a good one!

Suit Feedback and Questions (Tie advice)
The length looks about where you want your dress shirt cuff to land, about at the base of your thumb. And your jacket length should allow some of the shirt cuff to show. Some suggest about half an inch, or roughly the same as the length of shirt that shows above the back of your jacket. But it’s not just about how the shirt and jacket look with your arms at your side. If the shirt armhole is too big, the shirt could ride up your forearm when you bend your arm. Ideally you should have about the same length of shirt showing beyond your jacket with your arm bent as well

I think the tie looks pretty nice. Solid colored grenadine ties are a good option for a little texture

NP! Just a suggestion! Sometimes more tapering from the knee to the hem can be a clean look

It’s hard to tell from just that photo, but the jacket hem looks like it may be longer than ideal. If it were shorter, it could add some visual length to your legs, which you may prefer. Is it possible to have the trousers tailored to have the legs tapered? Just a thought.

Would either a black or navy necktie be bad with a navy jacket and white shirt?
That jacket is a bright enough shade of blue that it should pair well with a variety of darker hues. Personally I’d avoid a tie that appears brighter than that jacket, especially for an interview

Would either a black or navy necktie be bad with a navy jacket and white shirt?
I’m in the US and probably suffer from some cultural bias on this opinion. If you really like the look of a black necktie and are comfortable wearing it, you’ll probably wear it well. I usually see black neckties as part of a work uniform, and they’re appropriate for funeral wear. For myself outside of that, I’d stay away from plain woven or satin silk black neckties. They are very stark in appearance, almost like a black hole in the center of your outfit. Potentially other pieces in your ensemble can counter that effect, but for black, I’d go with a knitted or grenadine tie, so the texture takes away from the starkness of the color. Potentially you could also do a black foulard/geometric pattern tie. I have no experience with those. Only my opinion, I prefer dark blues over black, except that black is appropriate for funerals. At the last funeral I attended, I wore an extremely dark blue promoteo grenadine tie.
