trousers other than jeans for a university environment
So I've been wearing jeans for a long time, all of my adult life at this point and before that but while I still like wearing jeans, I want to switch up my style and try new items of clothing that I might not have before.
What are some good types of trousers other than jeans for a university environment?

A university environment where? Are you a student/professor/member of staff? What is your budget?
UK student, budget: about £100-200ish.
I'm in a big UK city with a couple of universities and lot of the students I see/notice wear dickies or carhartt trousers.
Gramicci and Stan Ray too
I'm in a small UK city and work at a university, similarly to what pancake said lots of dickies/carhartt trousers as well as chinos (in wider cuts not slim/tapered). As well as wider cargo pants.
Thanks
Chinos are a good jeans alternative, can range from casual to somewhat dressy
I've had a quick look and I'm currently leaning towards cargos, but I'll also look for chinos https://www.dickieslife.com/uk_en/eagle-bend-cargo-trousers-0a4x9x-mushroom

Cotton pants or chinos should work. But, with it getting cooler now, may be corduroy?
🤔 I've not heard of Couldry before.
I've seen this material before but I couldn't put a name to it.
Yes that is it. Also moleskin, but comparatively difficult to find.
"trousers for a university student in the UK"
^ corduroy is goated, and especially appropriate/comfy when cold
comes in both 5-pocket pants (ie. with a layout like jeans, with curved J-shaped front pockets that open from the top) and chino (front pockets less exposed, cut vertically or diagonally from the sides) forms
I got a really nice double-pleated pair from Lindbergh recently, that brand might not be the budget of a university student but if you're in the UK then your pounds will go further than my złotys
if you've got C&A in Britain, they have a winter line of cotton 5-pocket pants (ie. shaped like jeans but not made out of denim) that have a warm cotton lining on the inside, I swear by those, I have a pair in chocolate brown and they're one of my favorite things to wear
I can’t get past a mental block I have against corduroy, unreasonably perceiving it as a cheesy ‘70s material
🤔 Are moleskin jeans expensive?
Unless you're very careful with cut and colour moleskin is very old country gentleman coded in a lot of the UK.
:harold:
I want to look fairly young lol
Could try corduroy
I'll see if Marrkt has any lindberghs
No :nooooo:
