Crashes when using masks in Scatter

In the scene i am currently working on i can not use masking on a Surface Scatter i have made with a landscape an a scattered tree. The scattering works fine, but when i try to add either a Landscape mask or an Object mask (with a spline) it thinks for a long time and then it crashes. It is v1.8.3. I have attached a screenshot after adding an object mask. Also the log file after crashing. I have some other scatterings in the same scene with bushes and gravel without problems, using splines as masking....

1.8.5 Beta problem

I just installed the beta version. Now it will not open when i click the Dash button in the interface. Is that a known problem?

Why I can't see edit materials in unreal engine

General Feedback

My trial period for Dash is about to expire and I'm struggling to find a good reason to buy a license. I'm having so many problems with this tool that it's hard to pick one that is worse than the others. But probably the worst in my opinion is the lack of good quality documentation to help understand how these features work. There are pages, for example, just blank with no information. I tried the AI tool, but it lacks specifics and it took me six questions to get an answer to what I thought was a simple question. Here is just one example. I wanted to use the Physics Paint tool to drop a number of utensils on a rather complex table object. But I never figured out how to do it. The first problem was that it would drop the utensils at the very top of the table. I figured it was using the simple collision, so I reset the table's collision to use complex collision for simple. That didn't help. I tried different settings and nothing helped. It kept dropping utensils and they would stop way above the table. So I replaced the table with a simple box thinking that would do the trick. I set the scale and position of the box to match the table top and deleted the table. My next problem was that I couldn't get the brush to change size. I changed the default 1.5 down to 0.2, and in the display area the sphere shrank accordingly. But when I went to paint, it would paint at the large 1.5 size. Changing the brush size had NO effect on the painting....

I recently bought the perpetual license, and when I use my key inside of Unreal it gives me error code 1: Data header is invalid.

Merge Actors & UDIM

I don't know exactly how the merged material is created when you merge many assets together. I've tried to merge too many of them and the look of the merged material changed dramatically (maybe merge many 4K textures into one 4K texture can lead to bad results). But...if the merge actors tool can generate UDIM textures on the merged mesh that problem can be overcome, right? When I do photogrammetry the software that do that usually make me choose if, on the final mesh, I want to apply a single (ex. 8K) texture or multiple UDIM texures. In that way, with dash, we could create big new assets with very high detail starting from many small assets....

License Problems

I recently re-subscribed because of the new features, but when I'm putting in my license key (after swapping out my motherboard, reinstalling unreal engine and Dash) it gives me the error code:26, any tips on what to do in order to use what I paid for? Thanks in advance 🙌

Pipe tool idea

Heyo! I have an idea for a new tool that you guys could easily include in Dash, which would be amazingly useful for, i imagine, lots of people. A "make PIPE" tool that functions like this: - you draw a curve on things (the classic drawn dash curve) like walls, edges of houses gutters etc. The logic to make it stick like a blender grease pencil is there, you guys have it already - you can convert it to pipes with a tool similar to the curve scatter button: - there's a straighten / simplify algorithm which simplifies the long relatively straight stretches of curve (measuring angle between sampling points); you can choose how much to do so, the angle threshold etc...

Blend material with 3 displacement maps

At the moment only base material can be displaced. It would be useful con control and blend displacement from the 3 materials. Something like EasyMapper does....

Replace 1 or 2 of material from the blend material

If I need to change 1 of the 3 materials of the blended material I have to create a new one from zero. Maybe it is useful to replace only one of them by dragging the new single material on one of the 3. (To do that I know that I can replace textures from the material with UE tools...but with Dash...)...

Blend Quixel materials from different folders

In "Quixel old" content browser all materials are organized in different folders. If, for example, I select 2 materials in one folder and 1 in another, I cannot have selected 3 materials at the same time to create a blended material. I'm missing something?...

Just a simple suggestion!

Hey! First off just want to say this is a great tool and a lot of fun to use! I’ve only scratched the surface of some of the features. I challenge you guys when making a tutorial video or a “how to” for a certain feature you want to showcase to use free assets available or as near free as possible! I tried following along to a couple and one asset pack you were using was 200$! I know I could swap out with stuff I have already but it’s just not the same and I like to know I’m using the tool right by creating the same result your getting so I can apply it to future. 🙂...

Dual Spline!

I know you can duplicate a spline to make like road markings or the side of a canyon etc but it would cool if you could either make a dual spline tool where you can set the distance between the splines - it they are exactly the same initially (like for a path or something, or better link splines so they are grouped for usage so you could have like 1 spline with a differect curvature - but be able to move and manipulate them also as a group - for example a canyon 🙂...

Being able to select folder for imported asset from another project

Is it possible - or could it be made possible to specify the location of an imported asset from another folder? At moment it rebuilds the old project structure then i have to find the assets and move them manually - pain in the butt!

Bake down blended material displacement

For everyone that render with path tracer is a serious deficiency to not have displacement as in PT doesn't work. Override that problem with single material is simple, we just apply displacement map to the mesh and set magnitude. ...but, if we could bake down it(displacement) from the blended material too we could do the same thing (we have just to remember to have the same tile as blend material if we change it)...

DASH Content browser for large projects (with huge ammounts of folders with assets)

Hey Dash Team, I'm happy working with Dash, but I was never able tu use the Dash content browser with my big large projects so here we go again 😁 I noticed, in small projects the content browser will compute just fine (because I have 5 folders with 200 assets each). But in large projects, when I try to scan 1 folder, it will somehow try to compute or analize all the folders (lets say 1000 folders with around 200 assets each) first, like, Dash thinks I want to compute the entire 1000 folders, leading to crashes and bootlenecks. Maybe, there should be a way to let the content browser analize and compute 1 folder actually instead go to the 1000 folders and the 200 assets in each folder, and then, scan the folder I want, making the compute process stable, reliable and fast. I think Dash gets all the folders and assets in each compute of a project, instead the folder we want, that why the compute process is actually slow. ...

Scalable megascan preview - find in folder remember state

1 - Would be nice to preview megascan assets in Content Browser with small-medium-big size (on 4k monitor with 175% font scale they are very small) 2 - Content Browser don't remember if "Show the hierarchy" has been selected last time I've opened it. (every time I open the UE project and I open Dash CB I have to open hierarchy too)...

In 1.8.5, the Fab browser asks me to sign in but it doesn't allow sign in

I'm able to sign in in the "standard" Fab plugin (I'm using my Epic account) but Dash's Fab browser asks me to sign in again when I open it, presents me the various sign in options, but the sign in buttons are unresponsive. Is it a bug or something I'm doing wrong?

Path scatter not updating in 1.8.3

I just updated from 1.8.2 to 1.8.3. Now when i try to modify a path used for path scattering it will not update on screen. The same goes for any other modifications i make in the scatter editor. The "Set Megascans folder" path button not working?

i only got it to pop once. The ui to change folder path. But no matter how many times i press it or switch mouse, or mouse pad. i cannot for the live of me understand why i cant get the button to work.
