General Education courses as CPA student

Hello all, I have some questions regarding General Education courses that we have to take as students in the CPA program: 1. Do we have to take 1 arts & humanities course, 1 social sciences and 1 chosen from either categories, so total of 3 General Education courses throughout the program to graduate? 2. Although it varies largely from courses to courses, how much time in a week do these courses generally take to complete assignments, tests and projects, if any? 3. Would taking Online or Hybrid GE courses save time? I want more time to focus on learning C++ and JS instead of spending hours on writing or listening to professors in GE courses...

Course Schedules, hybrid courses

Hi all, I saw that schedules for part time courses are up for CPA courses. And I noticed many courses have virtual options. Is virtual campus also available for the full time courses? Or do full time courses all on campus? I saw that on the website that most full time courses are described as ‘in person’ but part time is somehow different....

CPA /CPP curriculum?

Would anybody be able to share their cpa/cpp detailed syllabus . On the website the course name and general outline is given which i find quite vague ....

Anyone know which courses this description on the CPP program website is refering to?

I was looking at the CPP program website and noticed this paragraph about how there is a variety of courses that relate to open source development. I know OSD600 and OSD700 are related to open source development but is there any other courses? or is it just those two courses? Also I'm curious if there is any networking events with Mozilla or Redhat or is Seneca's connection with them just purely through courses?

Is CPA program worth getting into given the job market?

I have enrolled into the CPA program this fall and reading through the coop-and-jobs section, I understand that there is some sort of hiring freeze as people are struggling to get a job at the moment. Just wondering what's everyones honest opinion about getting into this program at this time. I know the market is probably over saturated with people with programming background so kind of hesitant to dive in.

Student onecard

Im starting at seneca in fall and i was just wondering when and how can i start making onecard using the app because apparently its too early for it (as of july)

c #include <unistd.h>?

hello I need to find documentation about this topic "#include <unistd.h>", mmm where live this lib? I don't understand . thanks for you help.

Where to Start

I was advised by one of the alumni to get familiar with C and JS before my program starts (BSD), but I don't know what the perfect place to start is. (I pretty have much no prior coding experience) I tried to find an answer to this online and majority of the people advised that python is the best language to learn for someone who has never coded before. I watched a couple of hours of a 12 hour long python course for beginners on YouTube before I started having second thoughts regarding whether it was the right choice. Meanwhile, I was told that it would be hard for me to understand "C" if I started of with Python. So, I ditched learning python and started learning C from a course that someone suggested but it was highly mathematics oriented. I had a hard time understanding it because mathematics is not really my forte. I'm not sure if I should work on my math knowledge or I should find a different C course. I just wanna be prepared for college so it's easy for me later on. What should I do now?...

A question for the pass outs, working in the industry

What is the job market here like ? From what it feels like the technology market seems to be in quite a nascent stages (I could be totally wrong but weird tech stacks etc, not many innovative products and companies) and its almost like there are more developers here than products. I have some experience from Europe and Asia-oceania. Another thing that I have been hearing is that most people hire through references, or certificates, degrees etc and not projects. The Job descriptions are ludicrous at times, I mean I understand HR's are mostly useless and you can find this in other places too, but here it seems like companies use recruitment where people have no idea of the product or stack. A bit of a rant 😓 , but what thoughts ?...

Transfer Credit

Hi folks, I applied for transfer credits for the 3 general studies and communications but they declined everything. These are classes I took at a cegep(colleges in Quebec) a while ago but do they usually give you hard time with transfer credits? I have no clue why they rejected all 4....

Scheduling courses

What’s a Fall 2023 pro course that looks good on a resume?

I’m going into my final semester for computer programming in the fall and I can take 1 pro course. I was wondering which pro course would be the most useful if I want to apply to software developer jobs ? I’m deciding between web422 or CCP555 (Cloud computing for programmers) but I’m open to any suggestions.

Does anyone know how to download OpenCV 3.4.0 for C programming language on Fedora Linux?

I searched on the whole internet and found only a guide for Ubuntu that didn't work as I tried to do it for Fedora... I also tried to download it into /usr/include/ and build it there, but didn't work. I will appreciate every help! Thanks!...

Prerequisites for BSD

What are the prerequisites required for BSD? I tried searching this on Seneca's website but couldn't find anything. I've got 5 months till my course starts. Is there anything else I can do in this time that would make college easier for me later on?...
