Best way to backup my Paper Minecraft server?

I am looking for the best way to perform a simple nightly backup. I am pretty comfortable creating a cron job to rsync the whole folder, but I wasn't sure if that could potentially lead to corruption if it is copying files while players are playing the game.

Sky Factory 4 server not starting

I am trying to run a sky factory 4 server on my local machine and it crashes on startup. I am able to run a Better Minecraft 4 server fine but this new pack isnt working for me.

Port forwarding on a mac

I have a spare mac sitting in my basement that has been un-used. The specs: Processor 2.7GHz 2.9GHz, Memory 8GB (two 4GB) of 1600MHz DDR3 memory, Storage 1 TB (5400-rpm) hard drive, Graphics 2.7GHz 2.9GHz, Video Support If I wanted to host a server would it still work on a mac or do I need a windows pc?...

How do I add mods to my Pufferpanel Forge Server?

So, I followed these videos, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kFjEUDJexI&t=426s, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTAB5moyMVQ&t=2s, to create a minecraft server with an Oracle VM and pufferpanel but I am at the step where I have pufferpanel ready but I can't add any mods to it. I have started the server and installed the files I need but now I can't write any mods to it. Looking for a modified version of limited lives mod

So, I'm starting a server, and I want people to have limited lives. However, I don't want their health to be permanently reduced. So I'm thinking that maybe it should automatically add a permanant absorbtion effect to counter the health loss. Anyone know of a mod like this or are willing to do this for me?

friend disconnects every 2-3 minutes

Hi, I am hosting a server on my PC using curseforge to download the ATM10 modpack server (for NeoForge). When I connect to the server from the same PC there are no problems, but when my boyfriend connects he always loses connection after a few minutes. We both have great PC specs and a very reliable internet connection. We are even sitting right next to each other on the same LAN connection....

Cant build on Nether Roof on purpur 1.21.1 Server

Hi, My friend has a purpur 1.21.1 server with some plugins. Something is resisting building blocks on the nether roof. If you place a block on the nether roof it will get quickly removed with no messege shown. My friend is to lazy to fix this issue so i took it in my own hands. If I wont provide enough information I will ask my friend / add him to this thread. I provided a list of the plugins on his server in the Image. I had also included the purpur.yml file (It the messege.txt file).

could random high tick times be caused by using a shared host?

my server has perfect tps and perfect mspt averages. its just that every 2000-10000 ticks or so, a tick that is way longer than usual is processed ( from around 1-10mspt to 160mspt ). this happens just for one tick and returns to normal. i dont think i have any plugins that could be causing this (all my plugins from spark profiler are below 3% in tick occupation). the only reason i can think of that causes this is shared hosting with other nodes using high resources

Sudden ping issues

I host a small Minecraft server, gets a maximum of ~10 players online at once. Starting today, some players started getting really weird ping spikes/issues. Most seem to be people further away from the server, but there was 1 person that lived relatively closed. Ping goes up to anywhere from 300 to the thousands. The server should have 10Gbit connection & the Spark profiler report looks alright to me (though I'm not that experienced with it)...

doDaylightCycle Settings Not Saving on PlotSquared World

Anyone know why my plot world's daylight cycle refuses to be set to false when doing /gamerule doDaylightCycle false? When I join the world I can issue the above command and it works just fine until I restart the server (Issue the stop command in the console and then run my start.bat again). I have even edited the worlds level.dat with NBTExplorer and manually set it to false there but it is STILL enabled in-game!...

Random super high ping lag spikes with solid 20 TPS. No idea what is causing them.

So intermittently we will get a huge lag spike on the server. Most players pings will shoot up to 300+ and sometimes even 1000+. This lasts about 30 seconds and slowly goes down over time. Pterodactyl server ignoring garbage collection (memory leak?)

I started up a paper server using pterodactyl for the first time. Until now I've self-hosted and never had an issue with memory (admittedly because I allocated like 64GB). Everything is great so far, but it just refuses to do garbage collection. This just makes the RAM slowly fill up until the server eventually crashes. The server has 4GB of RAM to work with. Here's what I've tried so far: -allocating less ram than I have available. This kind of works, but setting the allocated ram or max ram percentage just makes it crash earlier....
