Automatic restart if MCU is detected

Since I turn off my printer once in a while and keep the RPi running it would be convenient to detect the MCU connection via USB and trigger an firmware-restart. I searched with the klipper context and found the following USB rule that I adapted to look for my MCU: in /etc/udev/rules.d/98-klipper.rules I use: SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="1d50", ATTRS{idProduct}=="614e", ACTION=="add", RUN+="/bin/sh -c '/bin/echo FIRMWARE-RESTART > /tmp/printer'" the ACTION part will obviously not work with RatOS - is it just a different path to the "printer"? Or is it a completely different command that triggers a firmware restart? Thanks!

Frankenstein Upgrade of a CR10 keeps going to PAUSE

Hey! I upgraded my old CR10 that, since I got my VCore3.1 500, just sits there and collects dust. I got an direct extruder, an Octopus V1.1 and a BLTouch - I am running the board with the original 12V powersupply. No filament runout sensor yet. I installed the latest RatOS on the RPi 3 that used to be the home to Octoprint. Sensorless homing works, PIDs are optimized, bed is level and so on... If I start a new print the printer goes through the START_PRINT macro (I used the v_minion templates and then modified what I needed from there) - and then it starts printing for maybe 2 seconds and then goes to PAUSE - the console shows no hint for the reason. THe CPU of the Pi is at about 20% load - memory at around 50% , all temperatures are super stable - Octopus at 40°C, Pi at 56°C If I continue the print it takes just a few seconds of printing before the printer pauses again. Is there any way I can narrow down the possible causes for this - or does anyone have an idea what could be going on? All help is appreciated! BJ

M600 macro does reload filament indefinitely until BTT sensor is disabled manually

Hi folks! Tracking an previously failed print (timer too close) I came across the following lines that keep repeating about every 5 seconds: Oct 29 00:01:11 FatRat klipper_mcu[368]: Got error -1 in write: (11)Resource temporarily unavailable what can cause this and can it be related to the timer too close issue? I use a 1Gb RPi 4 with an Octopus 1.1 - my load is around 0.22 - maybe 0.3 while printing. Any hint is appreciated! Cheers, BJ

Timelapse "enabler" does not show on start of print

I did setup a Raspberry Pi camera some weeks ago - enabled the legacy camera on the pi and set up the webcam in crowsnest.conf : [cam 1] mode: mjpg # mjpg/rtsp port: 8080 # Port device: /dev/video0 # See Log for available ... resolution: 640x480 # widthxheight format max_fps: 15 crowsnest log looks good: [05/04/23 08:28:36] crowsnest: Try to start configured Cams / Services... [05/04/23 08:28:36] crowsnest: INFO: Configuration of Section [cam 1] looks good. Continue... [05/04/23 08:28:37] crowsnest: Starting ustreamer with Device /dev/video0 ... [05/04/23 08:28:38] crowsnest: ... Done! I can see the camera live image on the dashboard but the timelapse dialog does not show if I start a print. Where do I need to check next?

Can't load filament with smart filament sensor enabled

If I do the printer will run the unload filament macro right away. The only working sequence is unload, turn off sensor, load, turn on sensor. Is there a way to work around this or is there an update in the way? (assuming that I didn't misconfigure the sensor)

Belt Replacement V-Core 3.1-500

Hi, I guess I need to replace my belts soon - along with the fmmm I want to install. What belts do you recommend and what length is required - also is the a spare part list with info like this?

Mouse not working

Hi, I connected a hdmi display to my vcore 3.1-500 and would like to connect a mouse as well. Checking with lsusb I see the mouse is recognized but there is no pointer, no reaction to movement etc. Do I need to enable mouse control somewhere? Thx!

Convenient way to switch probing bed mesh before print on and off

Hi, for small prints I don't need to probe the entire bed before starting the print. So I was looking for a way to get a switch on the dashboard to turn this on and off without editing printer.cfg each time but I did not find anything about this. Just like I can turn the filament sensor on and off. Is this possible?

PC Cooling duct melted while printing ASA

Hi, I just noticed that while printing ASA with enclosure at 105°C bed temp my tri horn cooling duct sagged down - It was printed from Prusa PC carbon blend material. I guess this was sort of expected but what is the alternative? What shroud material do you use for printing ASA?

Overriding Nozzzle Prime Start in RatOS macro won't work

Hi, I have a vcore3.1-500 and I use sensorless homing. All is fine except I need the the prime blob to be placed at 0 / 0 - instead it will happen at -7 / -2 Y=-2 is no problem. X=-7 will bump the head against the pysical end the X axis. So set x endstop to -7 with [stepper_x] dir_pin: x_dir_pin # Add ! in front of pin name to reverse X stepper direction rotation_distance: 40 # 40 for 20 tooth 2GT pulleys, 32 for 16 tooth 2GT pulleys position_endstop: -7 # Adjust this to your setup this will place the blob left of the build plate. The bolob won't work reliably this way so I tried to override the xy position of the blob with: variable_nozzle_priming: "primeblob" variable_nozzle_prime_start_x: 3 variable_nozzle_prime_start_y: 0 While the config recognizes changes to the variable_nozzle_priming it will ignore variable_nozzle_prime_start_x - x will remain -7. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

Preheat bed required

This is more of a statement than a question - at least an observation on my vcore 3.1-500 For prints that cover the whole bed I noticed that if I start the print from a child bed, the first layer will be rough and messy in some areas. If I hear the bed for 10 minutes before starting the print out will be smooth. What are your takes on this?

PETG melting between LGX and Mosquito Magnum

Hello, I aluse the provided 24V Hotend fan. Wiring and jumper setting to 24V. Smaller prints are okay but larger ones always fail BECAUSE the PETG filament melts inside the ptfe tube between Bondtech lgx and the mosquito Magnum. I checked everything but without finding a possible mistake. Anyone knows this or a possible cause? BJ

Home all won't work

Hi, I have some odd behaviour on my 3.1-500. If I turn on the printer and start a print the homing will get messed up in a way that eg. Z homing will start at y=0 because I guess Y did not home at all etc. If I click home x then y (or y then x) then z everything works just fine - start print, everything homes again and the print starts. Any suggestions?

Connecting two board fans to the Octopus 1.1

Instead of wiring my two board fans in parallel and connecting them to PD12 I wanted to get the Octopus to trigger PD12 and PD13 in parallel. So I connected the fans to PD12 and 13 and added the following lines at the end of the printer.cfg [multi_pin fan_controller_board_pin] pins: PD12, PD13 hoping this will replace the original definition of fan_controller_board_pin. There is no error saving and restarting but the board only starts the fan on PD12. What am I missing? Thanks!

Disable WiFi or Change Pwd

Hi, I have my vc3.1 connected to my LAN via cable. Now I noticed that this does not disable the WiFi access. How can I disable WiFi (rfkill, I know but this generated tons of error logs) in RatOS elegantly? Cheers, BJ

Strange START_PRINT macro on vcore 3.1 500

Hi. Using the default slicing profile I observed that right after the bed mesh 7x7 and a little wait for the temperature the print goes to Y 0 and X negative 7mm - the print head then bumps the left side hard and does a nozzle wipe and starts to print. Why is this set to do this at -7? How can I either set the wipe to x=0 or set the origin at +7, 0 to allow movement to -7?

Sensorless Homing

Using sensorless Homing I had to decrease the devault for driver_SGTHRS from 70 to 30 to avoid false positives of limit detection. Now I tensioned the belts some more to improve Y ringing and I had to lower to 20. Am I on the wrong track? What is your driver_SGTHRS?
