suggestions for penny loafers for narrower feet?
Bigger brands will do narrower widths, like C and B. Alden, Allen Edmonds, GH Bass, etc.

Can you hem sleeves of a leather jacket? Should I?
All good advice. I don't know this organization personally, but it's important to find a good one. You can pretty much count on two hands (maybe one) the number of independent leather tailors in the world who won't totally screw up a jacket.

Gun club check blazer <$300, new
Nothing you get new at that price point is going to be of decent quality or last you very long. Good clothes are unfortunately expensive when new...it can be a tough pill to swallow.

How do you separate good advice from bad advice? - Topic of the day 4/23/25
So for example, if somebody tells you "you should try this fit with a yellow scarf," and you have a yellow scarf that you wear and love anyway, and you're about to take a walk to the store. It is highly applicable (3) and low risk (3) to just put it on and walk to the store, so execute.

How do you separate good advice from bad advice? - Topic of the day 4/23/25
1. Does the advice strike you as accurate, or relevant to your style and values? Assign this a value from 1-3 as follows:
1 - Sounds wrong or doesn't apply to you.
2 - Could be correct, and/or at least partially matches with your goals.
3 - Sounds right on the money, close match to your value and styles.
2. What is the risk of following the advice? Will it cost you time or money? Does it involve going out of your way, or somehow making the wrong impression on others? Assign this a value from 1-3 as follows:
1 - High risk or resource intensive.
2 - Some risk involved, takes a non-negliable amount of time or money.
3- Low risk, could follow with little possible negative impact.
3. Add 1 + 2 above, and analyze as follows*
1-2: Low value, don't follow advice.
3-4: Some value. Considering trying in the future when the opportunity is right, or if you have enough time and money to execute right now.
5-6: Highly applicable, follow advice.

Fabric Weight - Topic of the day 4/22/25
This is a bit of a tangent, but if you are looking for lighter fabrics that still have good drape, one of the factors you want to look at is the ply. Three plan four ply are more likely to retain their shape.

Koraku blue green selvedge denim in china
TTS but again, this was a shirt. With raw denim you need measurements, and to be able to accurately predict shrinkage.

Koraku blue green selvedge denim in china
I have a shirt from koraku. There is nothing wrong with that materials, but the quality of the finish and the craftsmanship is not super great.

Views on the brand "FOB Factory"?
I'm not sure if I'm communicating this well. I wouldn't go so far as to say that they feel like they're handmade, more than they've got sort of a rougher finish that gives a little hint of that. Does that make any sense?

Views on the brand "FOB Factory"?
I own one shirt from them. They are sort of part of the newer generation of Japanese amekaji/vintage repro brands, along with other brands like Workers. They are going for a bit more of an unfinished, homemade feel and focusing entirely on Japanese materials and production.
I think their stuff is good. You should be aware that it has a little bit of a rough finish, on purpose. So it's not quite the polished product you'd find on something like a barbour.

Shell Cordovan Tear Repairable?
Unfortunately this is not repairable. Cordovan can be quite susceptible to horizontal tearing in this way.
A good cobbler will be able to seal it up with glue and maybe even make it quite hard to see, but honestly it will just open up again after time.

The best argument in the world not to do this, at least with anything that isn't removable, is that it is more difficult to resell.
