Koraku blue green selvedge denim in china

First time buying selvedge denim in china and found this brand. Price is pretty good and well reviewed but I’d like to know if there are things I should look out for when getting it. Also if there are other brands in China I should look at affordable selvedge denim in China?

I cant find much on this brand generally within the rawdenim reddit and stuff so im not too sure on quality, i do know sauce zhan is mentioned in the reddit and have seen red tornado mentioned, but also @Ol Timmy Tim Tim Timmy Tim Tim would maybe know the most about shopping in china.

chinese raw denim is as far an i know a smaller market than a lot of the Japanese makers, there are absolutely brands doing cool stuff out there

I feel you, it’s a bit of a unknown especially at that price but I could research deeper

is there a specific reason for chinese denim? there are tons of very well known brands generally from japan in the raw denim space and there are plenty of stores in china selling this stuff. That is also probably where the good Chinese brands would be if i had to guess

I feel they are out priced in china, some of the lowest entries are past a thousand yuan. I guess they are imported into China so there’s a bit of surcharge

that is probably true, but also nice raw denim just kind of tends to be expensive there's not a whole lot about Chinese raw denim on the English internet at all but from what i did link even their lower pairs don't really drop much below the 1000 yuan range, past that i cant really find anything about the more budget options

I’ll keep searching for one that ticks those boxes

I have a shirt from koraku. There is nothing wrong with that materials, but the quality of the finish and the craftsmanship is not super great.

Haven't bought anything from them as their fits looked odd, but their fabrics looked interesting. Some of their stuff is advertised as using Japanese denim, they even have persimmon dyed jackets.

For Chinese brands I have experience with, I'd recommend Red Tornado, Sauce Zhan, Bronson, and MBBCAR. Not sure where you are getting 1000 yuan from, but the pair in the OP is 259 yuan on Taobao.

Sorry popping in late to the discussion. The only Chinese raw denim I have personal experience is Ray Kwok (玩儿累的孩子), and I can vouch for the quality. Price is reasonable too. You're in China I'm assuming? You can find them on either taobao or JD. I've also heard good things about sauce zhan (酱站) but have no first hand experience. A friend of mine who's big into denim likes them, and I trust his word on quality. They're cuts run a little slim though in my understanding. Also if you're willing to try secondhand (I know that kinda defeats the purpose of raw denim for some people, but can at least help you gauge quality) you could go down the xianyu rabbit hole.

Ahh yeah, I couldn’t find the exact one and a few of the others that mention raw denim on the store were closer, my bad

TTS but again, this was a shirt. With raw denim you need measurements, and to be able to accurately predict shrinkage.
