Spier & Mackay Red Label vs. Core Suit
Tbh, I’d probably gun for the red label and put the extra hundred towards shoes.
Most of Spier’s stuff excels when it a) doesn’t include pants; and b) is focused on the detailing.
At the margin, I don’t think that the core suit is really all that much better than the red label, unless you care about fabric weight / mill, pocket shapes, lapel widths, etc.
For a basic 2 button tho? May as well get your all-rounder at a good price.

Sweaters
Plain V necks with a shallow V can be quite boring, and look very JC Penny catalog imo. I strongly prefer a good cricket sweater- plenty of room for a tie, and it maintains a shirt collar nicely.

Meermin loafer sanity check
Yeah, upper damage would be my deciding factor. If that’s actually a gouge I’d ask them to wave the restocking fee - if not then I’d just rub it off and keep.

Madewell x Bass collab dropped last week. Not bad imo.
J crew sometimes has decent stuff too. Women’s shoes are stupid difficult to find

Dressy-Semi casual boots under 250$?
I’m fairly certain blkbrd does black soles - but I will say I do prefer Bridlen’s materials, having handled both.
Def looks like a pretty good shoe. I haven’t had much issue wearing leather soles around, but they certainly do wear out faster.
Tbh, 90% of the welted shoe game is just enjoying the shoes. If you like it, you’ll wear it, and you feel that they check your boxes - then that’s what you should get.

Dressy-Semi casual boots under 250$?
Idk about Bridlen specifically, but my experience is that most brands from Asia tend to have a global price on their .com site, but have separate domestic rates so as to not price out that market.
Might not hold for them, but they do also have a Blake stitched line that was like $60-80 ish bucks a year or so ago

Dressy-Semi casual boots under 250$?
For boots in India, I’d look at Bridlen or BLKBRD. Unfortunately I don’t have much input beyond that, but both companies make solid shoes that should meet your requirements

spier and mackay
Yeah spier sleeve shrink is kinda bad - I wash and air dry all my shirts and get an extra inch-ish.
FWIW I got a mtm shirt recently after they launched their “new” program. It’s a pretty good fabric and the fit + finish is super good for what was like a $60 slightly custom shirt

Boots reco
Look fine - nothing crazy, but a very average boot. If you like the shifter patch on the first pair, get those, otherwise the second is very typical.
For $40, they both look plenty good. Not gonna beat that price.

Spier Mackay
Usually it depends on when their shipments come in - sometimes certain items get delayed forever, while others pop up and are stocked in 2 days.
They’re usually fairly responsive on instagram, though they might not know exactly when an item will land. Their email usually goes to an outsourced CS department.

Vinegar + warm water + dish soap is usually a safe cure-all.

Deciding on an Overcoat
Spier and Mackay has some good outerwear - usually 500-600 for their polos/ulsters/balmacaans, but perhaps slightly less nice than other brands. Their stuff this season has been a little more boring than last, imo

Spier Mackay
Depends a lot on the season, but generally Spier’s “contemporary” is more like a slim-straight. This season’s is probably more like a straight cut - I just got some of their Hollywood trousers and they’re not as wide as PRL Andrew chinos

Alden Shoes
I’d advise getting sized on a brannock before getting Alden’s.
That said - I take a 9.5uk in most Meermin, and go for a 10 in most ~1/2 down Alden lasts (Barrie & trubalance). Keep in mind I do have narrow feet.

longer fitting ocbd
Also with Spier you basically have to get shirts as they drop, or just see if there’s anything on sale. There’s no restocking at all, just full price or taking the chance
