Are rubber soles always more durable than leather

I pick soles more for how it looks and utility than how long they last

Always, no - generally, sure. At that price you’re not gonna be resoling them anyway, so get what looks cooler
I think most people would get Rancourt loafers resoled. It is $80, and many of the leathers they use will look close to brand new 10 years later. That said, all of their rubber/LH/leather soles are excellent in their loafers/mocs range.
