Suit Advice for Wedding?

Looking for a decent suit in a range of $300 to $500. I was looking at some Italian wool from Charles tyrwhitt. How do people like their suits? What would you recommend?

If you like it, it’s not a bad suit — I do think that functional cuffs are a big no-no for OTR suiting, and I can’t say I’m a big fan of the button stance of that jacket. In the lower budget / bigger bang category, I find Spier & Mackay is pretty good. Even their lowest Red line is ~$250 and a solid suit, so long as you’re not overly pedantic about suiting

Any OTR suiting that I might be able to get sizing on in person? I’m running out of time with about 2-3 weeks to nail this down. Why are functional cuffs not great?

In general you should plan on getting a suit altered/tailored. A pretty common alteration is to adjust the sleeve length. It is simple/cheap and helps the fit a lot. Normally the tailor just moves the buttons after adjusting the sleeve lengths, because the buttons are just decorative. However if the suit has real button holes you can’t adjust the length of the sleeve without the buttons being too close or too far from the end. So in general real button holes make the garment less adjustable. Maybe you’re lucky and the sleeves are perfect off the rack but that is unlikely.

I’ll be going back to the mall tomorrow to check it in person. That’s really good points. I also see their non Italian wool suits have closed up sleeve buttons. So I’ll get more info Any alternatives that I can possibly look at in a store that y’all recommend? Even if it’s something like macys? Just want to get an idea of stores that have a physical presence that might be worth looking at as well

At 300 to 500 in that timescale honestly the best option is whatever you can try on that fits you best in charcoal or navy - that's gonna depend on what's in your mall. There's almost certainly better available at that budget, but you have to know your sizing and order online and tailor. Aim for 100% Wool though

The time constraint you’ve got definitely makes things slightly harder. You may have a suit supply nearby, and that’s probably the best quality “mall” brand you could find OTR stuff at if you’re like a 38-42. Otherwise, Ralph Lauren could be an option, J crew is more likely, but even Banana republic or Macy’s is on the table. Like Chopper said - on a crunch, whatever you can find that fits you is your best option.
