can vouch for this, probably the best vintage american apparel store ive ever been anywhere. they literally had stacks of rl polo bear and american flag sweaters sitting on their chairs lol

There were a lot of great second hand shops all around like apgujeongdong and seongsudong that I unfortunately didn't mark down so I'd recommend just taking a stroll and checking out whatever!

All these recommendations are for Seoul btw:
Sculp Store stocks a lot of Japanese-Americana type stuff (Nepenthes, Kapital, Visvim), cool place to check out. San Francisco Market leans a little more classic, lots of cool stuff. Drakes has a brick and mortar in Seoul (only one outside of london/ny), Ecru's a cool little boutique for more steet wear leaning stuff (Undercover, WTAPS, etc).

there are a couple categories of clothes that i think are actually weirder for not having logos, mainly sneakers, ball caps, technical outerwear, etc. but im generally against logos on basically everything else, though im not entirely consistent about this tbh lol

northeast western wear equivalent?
American western wear was heavily influenced by spanish and native american culture so maybe for the northeastern equivalent, you can look at british heritage type stuff? i think that'll at least get you as old (or older) than the old west

muji's got some loose fitting ocbds that are pretty good and inexpensive. their sizing can be a bit inconsistent though so you live in a city that has one, i'd recommend going in store to try em on

i feel like that whole obsession with quality was massive like ~10 years ago which was when i first joined /r/mfa and i would see the vimes boot theory quote copy pasted on every thread, but thankfully i do believe that's lessening now

i largely agree with dieworkwear's main thesis, which is debunking the idea that expensive clothes will put you ahead financially in the long run due to them lasting longer. i think it goes hand in hand with people obsessing over this abstract notion of "quality" in clothing because wanting expensive clothes just because they look or feel nice is seen as frivolous. the sam vine's theory kinda helps people trick themselves into thinking those really expensive boots they bought are really an investment and a fiscally responsible thing to do even though the real reason they bought them is because deep down, they just thought they looked cool.
