wool pants/clothing questions
Yes, you got it right. For drying, I sandwich the pants between 2 towels, on the floor, and walk ofer it for a few minutes. Becomes semi-dry. Then just airdry.

wool pants/clothing questions
1. Synthetic inner lining is a bigger problem than a small percent of nylon or polyester in the shell. Try finding something with vsicose in the lining. 3. My friend @top raisin tells me not to recommend made-to-measure to everyone. But, if otr pants don't fit, mtm is the solution. I find wool fabrics from British mills to be more durable and hard wearing than Italian wools. Dugdale, Minnis, Fox are really good. The lighter VBC fabrics are good but a little fragile. Though the most hard wearing I have come across is the vbc 4-ply. Often wool is dry clean only. Some can be washed though. Depending on your situation, you need to decide on that aspect as well.

Smart Casual for European Business Trip
1. north vs south: wardrobe will completely change due to climatic reasons 2. Attire perceptions change by places: in paris, zurich - formal is strictly formal - proper suit/tie/shoes being right and of the right colors/fabrics/patterns, in Milan otoh, a lot more flexibility is there. In frankfurt, client team members would wear db suit jacket with jeans and a tie.

Help me find a pair of jeans that are jeans but don't look like jeans!
Try finding pants in Brisbane Moss Keats fabric. Heavy cotton twill, so similar to jeans, does not fade much. Works well as chinos as well as jeans

If you have specifics, then go made to measure. Lot of good options these days that are not too expensive. But there are many otc brands that cater to different needs. Need to find.

True! But that is a rule of thumb that I apply. Agree on complete lack of consistency. Heck I have a recent uniqlo polo where the left collar is 1/2 inch shorter than the right.

Cotton pants or chinos should work. But, with it getting cooler now, may be corduroy?

Is this jacket too large?
The hanging shoulders are a no-no sign of it being too large, though I do see many street brands purposefully make the shoulder wider

Measure waist and inseam of the pants that fit you. Use that as a reference point. If size tag waist says 36, actual waist will be about 38

what colour overcoat
Charcoal herringbone will give you some nice texture and be quite versatile. I have navy and black as well, which all I wear regularly. I believe you will not go wrong with either. I also have a green which sees less use. Another tan that is also not worn that often.

Dress/Coloured socks for those who sweat a lot
Merino is usually not a bother on warm days. But each of us are different. Never tried smartwool or outway. I have Pantharella, Brisciani and Falke. Falke being least favorite. If trying business shoes, you can go for the ones with a leather sole and cork filled. They wear cooler. Wishing you luck!
