Alternatives to Uniqlo U long-sleeve tees
Hey !
I'm looking to grab a few more thick long sleeve t-shirts, but I'm disappointed to see that Uniqlo have decided to discontinue these from their U line.
I've found a still live listing on their Thailand website as an example [UK based]:
https://www.uniqlo.com/th/en/products/E425213-000?colorCode=COL36&sizeCode=SMA003
I'm not after the 'best' t-shirt, I'm not after the 'coolest' t-shirt, I just want a Uniqlo U long sleeve t-shirt, albeit one that isn't from Uniqlo U....
I like the fabric, I like the weight, I like the fit. Any recommendations for t-shirts that are as close as possible*? Preferably with a decent range of colours.
There is the 'soft touch' cotton option on :uniqlo: , but part of the appeal of the U tee was that it wasn't soft - it feels pretty significant.
Budget wise, I guess anything similar in price would be a bonus, but let's say up to £40.00 per tee, there or thereabouts.
(*I'm not fussed about the pocket, I actually removed those from mine :xd: )

Cream/Ecru flannel w/ neps
Hey 👋
Hoping collective wisdom can help me with a search for a piece that has been on my mind.
Basically I'm looking for a solid coloured cream/ecru flannel, but one with rainbow/multicoloured neps interspersed throughout the fabric.
(I just think it'd make it a bit more interesting and fun)
The closest thing I've found is the below, but I don't want to buy from Gustin after hearing the horror stories
https://www.weargustin.com/store/shirts-544-rainbow-monster-nep-flannel
(And I think I'd actually prefer something more subtle tbh)
I'm going to assume that other brands do stuff like this, but I just can't seem to find anything!
Budget probably around £100. I also tend to wear XS, and whilst sizing obvs varies between brands, having that as a listed option would be a bonus.
Any guidance would be much appreciated!
Edit: Also if anyone thinks that what I'm looking for would like absolutely awful in reality (thus why it's so elusive) then please do tell me :xd:

Linen/Linen Blend Overshirt Recommendations
Hey all.
I'm after a linen overshirt/light jacket that I can wear on warmer days - my cotton ones are a bit too 'heavy' for that situation.
Any recommendations? Happy to spend up to approx £200. Limiting factor may be that I'm typically an XS.
I've seen two that I like at different ends of the price spectrum:
Uniqlo Linen Blend Relaxed Overshirt
https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/linen-blend-relaxed-fit-overshirt-469046.html?dwvar_469046_color=COL69
(I'm a big fan of their linen blend trousers, so I'm assuming that this may be similar. This is a cotton/linen blend though, rather than pure linen.)
Portuguese Flannel Labura Linen Jacket
https://www.mrporter.com/en-gb/mens/product/portuguese-flannel/clothing/lightweight-waterproof-jackets/labura-slim-fit-linen-jacket/1647597308267716
(I fit their stuff really well, so I'm tempted. Not too sure why MrPorter have this listed as 'Slim Fit' when I can't see that label attached on any other listings of the same item elsewhere - so I'm ignoring that tbh)
Any other recommendations/thoughts?

Experiences with Marrkt
Hey all!
Does anyone have much experience with Marrkt for clothing?
https://www.marrkt.com/collections/tops-shirts/products/rrl-chambray-shirt-5
There’s an RRL Chambray Workshirt in my size which has been on there a while, but I’m slightly thrown off by a) the price being lower than I expect, and b) the knowledge that brands like RRL have the potential to be targets for fakes.
I may be completely off on the pricing, but when I see the original retail price, and see how much they tend to hold value on pre owned sales on eBay, it makes me second guess.
Any experiences/info would be awesome!

Hiking shoes/boots
Hey all.
This year I want to get more into walking/hiking - although nothing extreme - and figured I should probably look at getting some shoes for that specific purpose.
(As much as I love my go to boots, I'm not sure they're really designed for long walks or trailing up hills or through mud - especially now that I'm faced with cleaning a load of dirt out of the welts of my IR's following my latest local walk 😭 )
I have absolutely no idea where to begin looking, beyond recalling that some people have previously mentioned Salomans, and that people like trail shoes?
Budget wise, I guess it'd be around £100-150. Again, no idea whether that's 'enough' or 'too much', and any general brand recommendations would be welcomed!

(Another) Leather belt query - width
Hey all,
I've decided to treat myself with a nice belt and received one yesterday, but the width is 40mm (1.57 inches) which I find is just a little wide for a lot of the belt loops on my clothing.
It 'fits' but I don't really want to risk wear and tear from a thick heavy leather.
As such, I'm looking at some alternatives from the same maker, Barnes and Moore: https://www.barnesandmoore.co.uk/shop
They have a slightly slimmer 'Garrison' belt which is 38mm (1.4 inches), although I'm thinking that it might be better still to opt for one of their 'slim' belts for a more all-purpose offering - something I can wear with jeans, but also with chinos, etc.
This is 32mm (or 1.25 inches), example here:
https://www.barnesandmoore.co.uk/shop/belts/slim-belt-oak-bark-conker/
Does this width sound like it should be a good all-purpose belt for casual wear?
I know everything has got a bit wider/bigger in recent times, so maybe I'm just out off by the use of the word 'slim' 😂 .
On a side note, they have some belts with 'roller' buckles, but I can't really work out what the purpose/advantage/disadvantage would be beyond an aesthetic choice. Any pointers on that would be appreciated too!

Denim washes + lightening a pair
Hey folks.
Inspired by a styling suggestion thread, which blue denim washes are “in” at the moment? Or is this always going to be more contextual and down to individual preference?
As a secondary q - I have a pair of Uniqlo u selvedge from ages ago that I haven’t really worn recently.
I’d quite like to lighten them up a little bit to add something different to my wardrobe - what’s the best way to do this? Just wash them at a higher temp repeatedly?

orange corduroy
I like corduroy. I like Portuguese Flannel’s corduroy shirts (I’m wearing one right now - hoorah) but…
How seasonal would something like this be?
https://www.portugueseflannel.com/collections/aw23-corduroy/products/lobo-brick-2
Someone told me that it’s very autumnal (agreed) but would it look weird if I wore this now or into the spring?

Button Down Collar and versatility
Hey folks!
Possibly a stupid q, but is there any variance in versatility when it comes to how one wears a shirt with a button down collar?
https://www.mrporter.com/en-gb/mens/product/portuguese-flannel/clothing/plain-shirts/lobo-cotton-corduory-shirt/1647597318957343
Alongside wearing it buttoned up, I’d quite like to wear this shirt open over a t, akin to a work shirt almost, but I’ve never been sure if that’s “fine” if there’s the BD element there? Any thoughts welcomed!

Layering + thickness
Probably a stupid q, so have been hesitant to ask BUT
It's getting colder now and I'd love to wear more wool in the form of jumpers as a mid layer.
In terms of layering, some guides I've come across have always suggested that the outerlayer should be the thick one - but would it be a big 'no no' generally (for want of a better term) if I wore a thick wool jumper, and then threw a lighter chore jacket/overshirt over the top?
e.g. a thick jumper, and then something like this over it: https://universalworks.co.uk/products/universal-works-bakers-overshirt-in-navy-fine-cord-3 ?
I seem to have an abundance of lighter jackets like this (not just corduroy), and it's probably not going to get cold enough to warrant me buying even more outerwear to combine with thick wool jumpers - just wasn't sure if it'd look super off?

Re-washing a stretched jumper?
I hand-washed a 100% merino wool jumper the other day, and when I placed it out to dry (flat) I noticed that the sleeves seemed longer than I recall them being previously.
I think I may have inadvertantly stretched them at some point during the washing process.
It's fully dry now and seems to have snapped mostly back into shape, albeit with the sleeves slightly longer than I would like...
Would it be worth giving the jumper another hand-wash in cold water?

I'd like some coloured socks.
Been looking at the Uniqlo coloured socks after seeing a few recommendations on here, and decided that a) I need more socks anyway, and b) I'd quite like to vary up my usual white/off white/navy selection.
I like those mustard yellow ones, so they're in.
If you could pick 3 more colours from the selection here, what would you pick? I'm kind of overwhelmed by the range of options, so would like some help.

What colours are fun? Purple? Pink?! Olive?!!
(Actually, I quite like the look of that Olive)

Thoughts on Suit Supply 'Perennial' Line?
Hey folks 👋
So, I need a formal outfit for a friends wedding reception next month, and having absolutely no formalwear whatsoever, I figure it may just be time to pick up a suit more generally - although I can't envisage it getting heavy usage at present in all honesty...
Based off recommendations from here/elsewhere, I've been browsing Suit Supply (UK) and came across their entry level 'Perennial' line - looks like you can pick up a navy suit in either a 'Stretch Wool' or 'Pure Wool' for £379 (excluding alteration costs).
https://suitsupply.com/en-gb/men/suits/navy-perennial-havana-suit/P7430.html
https://suitsupply.com/en-gb/men/suits/navy-perennial-havana-suit/P8339.html
1) Would these be servicable options? Is there anything between the two that makes one look more appealing than the other, either in terms of general versatality and/or longevity?
2) I know that menswear has shifted towards wider/straighter fits - does tailoring exist in a slightly different world here or would something like this also look pretty dated?
If there are other alternatives in that price range (I'm happy to go a little higher if there'd be a big benefit) or even cheaper based off my intended (lack of) usage, then I'm also open to suggestions!
I may have some more q's, but just wanted to jot this down now before I put it off yet again...

What can I layer under an ecru chambray workshirt?
Hey all!
I have this awesome ecru chambray workshirt from UW that I really like but want to start wearing a bit more.
https://glasswingshop.com/products/universal-works-l-s-utility-shirt-ecru
Now, I could obviously just wear it buttoned up (and I'm looking forward to pairing it with cords come autumn), but given that it's supposedly summer, and we're still having mildish evenings, I wouldn't mind wearing it open/layered over a tee.
I'm a bit stuck on what colours would work with this though, due to how bright it is.
I did try a white tee yesterday and thought it looked pretty good - but struggling to think of other colours that may work. Heather gray? A striped white tee?
It's not a thick fabric so I think anything too saturated or dark will probably look a bit off - but maybe something more muted?
