Leather belt query

Hey all. I treated myself to a nice leather belt, and it’s arrived but I’m slightly baffled. It’s nice quality leather and feels great, but when trying it on I’ve noticed that it doesn’t have the “loop” to tuck in the excess. I figured that I could just tuck this into the belt loops on my pants, but because it’s quite thick and wide, this is impractical/impossible. Is the absence of this loop normal for some types of belt? If it helps, it’s sold as a “submariner” belt, but I’m not sure if that’s just a term devised by the company! I may actually return it and opt for one of their slimmer models because this seems a bit wide in comparison to the loops on the trousers I’ve tried it with - but figured I’d ask here for some advice on the belt itself first! Oh my goodness I’ve been an idiot - the excess just tucks into the other side of the buckle…. I think that because the leather feels so stiff it didnt feel natural to try that 😂 Now I still need to try and work out if the belt is a bit too wide for various trousers, as I don’t want the belt loops on them tearing, but yeah…main issue resolved - sorry
