Does Tectonic make rendering take longer?
Solution:
World gen mods do affect the speed of generation of LODs and chunks in general. For Tectonic, I think its not a big slowdown, rather a small one.
DH forge 1.20.1 Are there any compatible mods with it?
It's super cool that DH with shaders also works on forge now. I got the problem that as soon I add some other mods like alexs caves, mowzies mobs or create it stops working.

lod chunks arent rendering, and most of them are in weird bars
i used chunky to load a large area around me, and distant horizons isnt displaying anything.

Near-100% GPU Strain even at lowest graphic settings.
Unless I use Detail by Chunk, which looks horrible- I can't get my GPU to not be cooking while using this mod. Even without any shaders.
No matter what I do. I've set the graphic detail configs to Height Map and Lowest, and I'm not budging on setting the Max Horizontal Res to anything that isn't Block, unless the devs make it any less ugly than it currently is, because it's just not pretty enough to want to use 2 blocks or worse.
How is the mod this poorly optimized?...
Distant Chunks only showing previously loaded chunks in render distance
As the title says- "Distant Chunks only showing previously loaded chunks in render distance", and I can't find much information online nor in the FAQ about this. I know many people stand and wait for it too load further out- but from I'm seeing, my game isn't loading further out and the only data from Distant horizion is saving is previously rendered chunks. I am in a Multiplayer server- however, I've had this issue for a while now, in both multiplayer and Singleplayer

Is there a way to force a shader to load with DH?
I'm trying to load Vanilla VX, which only adds colored lights and handheld lights. Everything else is vanilla to my knowledge. I'm 90% certain this wouldn't impact Distant Horizons, but since the shaders isn't made for DH it gives the text popup about how it's incompatible and DH won't load anything to prevent bugs. I'm hoping there is some method to force it, worse case any way to add DH support myself? Or trick DH into thinking there's support? I am not the creator of the shader, but I'll go i...
Solution:
Since the shaders looked abandoned, I just added the needed DH files from another pack into the one I was trying to use, took a few tries to find one that wasn't causing glitches. Not really the solution I wanted, but it works, and since it's for personal use and not something I will be sharing it's probably as good of a solution I'll get until I'm better at coding. Tried coding it myself first but I don't know anything about vsh and fsh files.
Game crashes when loading into a world
Aight, so, the game just closes itself when i try to load my survival world. According to ChatGPT the crash is being caused by DH and Iris, althought i have them updated to the last version (i'm playing 1.20.1). If it helps, i have DH auto-update on.
DH Stops Rendering LODs and Giant Chunks of LOD Missing
These big corners are sometimes missing and don't even begin to appear as I approach them. My MC render distance (12) will load, but DH doesn't catch up in the direction I'm going. None of my specs are even hitting 50% (GPU occasionally goes to 60%) and I have 22 GB of RAM dedicated to the MC installation I'm on.

try changing your GC to Z GC, best if its generational version

hello, the faq says that for multiplayer lod data is stored in
.minecraft/Distant_Horizons_server_data/SERVER_NAME/
i was wondering about that SERVER_NAME, is it the actual ip adress of the server, or the name that the player chooses when adding a server, (the one where the default is Minecraft server
Im asking this because in my modpack im using fancymenu which allows me to create a quickjoin button, that when setup connects directly to the server ip and there is no way of giving it a name like a player would add a server in their list
