Putting the downloaded jar file in a mod folder i created didnt seem to install it for me
Distant Horizons does not appear to work for me after adding the downloaded jar file for the minecraft version 1.21.1 while using minecraft version 1.21.1
I think its possible it is working but it is set to minecraft's default rendering as a default, and I would need to adjust the settings in either the setttings button to the left of the FOV slider or the config file as an alternative i saw in an FAQ, however I dont see the button, and im not sure how to get to the config file. But i dont know if any of this is the case.

Have you already installed a modloader like Fabric or Neoforge?

You should send your
latest.log
file to provide additional useful information.
Logs are usually located in the .minecraft/logs
directory.
On Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\logs
On Linux: ~/.minecraft/logs
On Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/logs
Please upload the file to mclo.gs instead of sending the raw file. This makes reading the contents of the file a lot easier and improves the chances of you getting the help needed.
After uploading the file, click on Save
and send the link. What MC launcher do you use?
no. is that really necessary nowadays? I was hoping to limit the space im taking on my computer.
this is what i get when running the windows command and opening the file on notepad
I only know of one official non third party minecraft launcher, and i use it. Is that enough information? If not, how should i go about specifying which one it is?
Well, yes it is. Mods have to be loaded in some way, and Minecraft isn't going to do that itself.
If you're worried about file space, I recommend using Fabric. Its very lightweight and modloaders in general don't use much file space.

isn't a windows command. Its a discord bot command, that makes the bot respond with a certain messageright
in the bot message it says to look at appdata.minecraft.logs
Yea, thats enough
The log you sent is definitely not a minecraft log, but the cause of your issue is found anyways, so theres no use for it now
very good thank you
Here is a Modrinth App tutorial if you would want to try it:

It will take some space on your PC, but it will make modding MC much easier in the future
