Several Crashes I can't Solve
I have been playing with DH for awhile, and I really like the mod, but I have had these specific crashes showing up randomly, and they all share the same: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION on them. I created my own modpack on the Curseforge launcher, and I am 99% sure DH is what is causing these crashes. I have played with and without shaders, and it seems like the crash still persists.
For some additional background, I built a new PC a few months ago, but I’m not very good with computers, so if you have any solutions, could you please share them in caveman terms so I can easily follow? I have shared several of the crash logs down below, thank you in advance.
Minecraft Version: 1.20.1
Current Minecraft Forge Version: 47.3.22
Using Embeddium + Oculus for Shaders
Using the In-Dev version of Bliss that works with DH
DH Version (2.1.2)
Oculus (1.7.0)
https://mclo.gs/HD0cQ1v
https://mclo.gs/Gfin9b6
https://mclo.gs/2VXsW6i
DH Version (2.2.1)
Oculus (1.8.0)
https://mclo.gs/XAXdLnH
https://mclo.gs/dyhcd0s
https://mclo.gs/cmf3k5N
I have also tried several of the suggestions listed in the FAQ, including using the official Minecraft launcher, but it also crashes and gives me Exit code 1. but if you think I should retry, just let me know. If you want me to send any other crash logs, just ask.

Do you have Rubidium?
Oculus may work, but can produce unexpected results, it is preffered to use Iris on Fabric or Neoforge instead.
To use oculus with DH, it is only possible to use minecraft 1.20.1 with forge. Oculus 1.7 is the only officially released version of Oculus that works with DH, and only works with DH 2.1.x. If you are using DH 2.2.x with Oculus 1.7, that is the reason for your crash.
For DH 2.2.x, the only option is to use an unreleased version of Oculus found at https://github.com/Asek3/Oculus/actions/runs/11198312573/artifacts/2020008921 (you need to be logged in or it will 404). Unzip the given file, take oculus-mc1.20.1-1.7.0.jar. and put it in your mods folder.
For DH 2.3, you need the unreleased version mentioned above, and edit it to make it work with DH 2.3:
unzip the mod .jar
go inside the META folder
edit mods.toml to say it is Oculus 1.8.0
save the file and zip the mod file back (zip the files and not the folder)
I don’t think it’s the versions that are causing the issue, three of the crash reports were caused when I was using DH 2.1.2 with Oculus 1.7.0. I was using DH 2.2 with oculus 1.8.0. which fully released a few days ago. But the crash seems to happen no matter what version I use, even the compatible ones. The reason I want to stick to forge is because of too many mods not having fabric ports, so i want to keep this modpack a forge thing if possible.
Does this happen without Oculus?
And does this happen without dh?
I have tested it a few times, and it doesn’t seem to happen when DH isn’t present.
/logs
You should send your
latest.log
file to provide additional useful information.
Logs are usually located in the .minecraft/logs
directory.
On Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\logs
On Linux: ~/.minecraft/logs
On Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/logs
Please upload the file to mclo.gs instead of sending the raw file. This makes reading the contents of the file a lot easier and improves the chances of you getting the help needed.
After uploading the file, click on Save
and send the link. The error logs are 1 thing, but please provide the full logs as well
Are these the type of logs you were looking for? Or was it something else?
If these are the latest.log files then yes they are the correct ones
I don’t have much time right now and during next couple days
Maybe someone else can look at them
Sorry
That’s fine
can you try to replicate this with the least amount of mods possible?
and try to replicate it with the latest nightly build
How many times does it need to repeat this error: [Worker-Main-4/ERROR] [net.minecraftforge.resource.PathPackResources/]: Invalid path textures/advancedcombat:entity/shield: Invalid segment 'advancedcombat:entity' in path 'textures/advancedcombat:entity/shield'
I only had three mods installed with this pack, Embeddium, Oculus, and DH 2.3.0 Beta instead of the latest 2.2.1. I flew around for about three minutes before it crashed again, here is the log: https://mclo.gs/FUz2MfM
anything special about your DH config file?
ill try to replicate it
The only thing I changed that I know of was Detail was set to high, and CPU load was set to low impact
but as you're the only one reporting this problem, there is a moderate chance this is a pc problem, instead of a DH problem
hmm alright
It likely is a PC problem, but I don't know what it could be, but since the crashes only seem to happen when DH is present, I thought someone would be able to help me figure out what needs to be fixed.
try running prime95
see if your ram is stable
what is prime95? sorry if I don't know about this kind of stuff
I'm kind of new to PCs
its a program
look up how to use prime95 to see if your ram is stable
what shaders?
I got the version of Bliss that is compatible with DH a few months back
alright
I ran the shader without DH to test, and it seemed to do ok by itself
I started to run Prime95, the tutorial I looked up said to try balanced, what all should I look out for that would affect minecraft?
any errors
even if it throws just one error, your memory is unstable
not getting any crashes with the same setup
Will the errors show up in the main thread? Because I didn’t see any in the worker windows
i forgot the details of how prime95 works
been a while since i used it
I started to run it again, how long would you reccomed I run it for?
half an hour at a minimum
Gotcha, I started about 15 minutes ago, so I will have some information in a little bit.
It ran for about 31 minutes in total, I ran all 24 cores and it said that there were no errors or warnings for any of them, is there anything else I can look for?
24 cores? You have a 13900(k) or 14900(k)?
13th and 14th gen is known to not be stable, so perhaps that's related
I have a 14900
Oof
Does the cpu not play well with DH?
If it is indeed a stability issue like the 13th and 14th gen are known for, your cpu doesn't play well with more than just DH
Oh, well is there another solution besides just getting an older version?
Well making sure it is indeed that problem would be a good step
If your cpu fails the test, it would be best to return it if you can
I’ll check that out, thanks
Took the test, and it said that it passed, should I do it a second time to be sure?
Probably won't matter
I'm out of ideas then
I have no idea why you're getting random crashes
Oh well, thanks for trying at least.
Check your java (the actual java not minecraft java) installation as error code 1 is usually to do with java from what I have been reading on google.
What should I look for? The version of Java is 17.0.8 in game, and I tried to use the latest version a few times and it crashed as well.
I tested DH all by itself today, here is the error log and full log if they will help:
Error Log: https://mclo.gs/xI6PxU7
Latest Log: https://mclo.gs/4Vs0pAa
Does it work with jarfix? (I don't know if it will work as I don't really know much about jarfix itself).
Never heard of jarfix, what is it?
It is a program for java that can sometimes resolve issues. (I don't know much about it though)
In this log file there is a warning saying that "lowcodelanguage-1.20.1-47.3.22.jar is missing mods.toml file" which may be an issue.
Also there is this: "DH Test\config\forge-client.toml is not correct. Correcting"
This doesn't happen on older versions of DH right?
I am going to make a text file of all the possible errors in the log, here it is:
It seems to happen on whatever version of DH I use, even when it is all by itself
Hmm this is an incredibly odd issue, I suspect it has something to do with your actual computer.
Me and the other guy both believe that to be the case, but I'm trying to figure out what exactly is causing it.
Have you tried running benchmark software like OCCT or Passmark?
I tried running prime95, but I'm pretty sure that just covered the CPU
Does the two you mentioned cover more components?
Yes occt covers just the cpu (I think so but not 100% sure) and it has lots of information about all of your pc (e.g. temp, usage, core temps, fan speed, etc) but passmark can benchmark your entire pc so if your pc fails one of the tests we will know it is a problem with your pc.
I just used Passmark, and it didn't seem to fail any of the tests, the 2d was 61%, and the memory mark was 73%, but overall the score I got was 15017. Is there any other information from passmark I should share that would be relevant?
I honestly don't know what may be causing it then, sorry.
@Puhpine (GMT +2) Do you think it is worth pinging james?
Either your Java, Minecraft, or mod loader installs are corrupt.
Looking at the DH 2.2.1 logs:
All 3 crashes happened in native code, not java code.
All 3 crashes were in vanilla MC code, not mod code.
I uninstalled and deleted the old files accociated with minecarft and curseforge, is there a specific way I should go about reinstalling everything? or is there another solution.
Since James said they were most likely corrupted, I figured the best bet was to start from scratch again
I would install them from the official websites but it is up to you ig
Hi James,
I'm having the same issue. After 3-10 minutes crashes with the same EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
Minecraft: 1.21.1
Fabric: 0.16.9
DH: #072082c5
https://mclo.gs/H9rvZSo
https://mclo.gs/eTViVXS
I have attached a Prism/MultiMC Launcher instance which will recreate my client scenario with access to the server causing the crash.
I do believe this is a pc issue however as this has not happened on my more powerful PC, but it is only recently I have had this issue occur with my lower spec pc.
I'll be able to confirm it's definitely not an issue on my higher spec computer soon
Your crash is different and I just pushed a potential fix that should be available to download in about an hour or so.
I reinstalled minecraft and java after deleting the previous files, and after using DH by itself again, it crashed again, here is the log: https://mclo.gs/35qaNeZ.
How odd, looking at that log I am seeing the same warnings as before...
