Used putty to SSH into the printer. Entered the user and password. (pi) (raspberry) Don't be me, change those to something different.

Seems I have over compensated. How close is good for a 500?
All I'm pointing out here is that your bed doesn't need to be perfect to make good parts. If yours require a flat bottom then your going to have to spend money to get it there.

Seems I have over compensated. How close is good for a 500?
70c heated chamber and stock gantry. I'll take just under 1mm over a 500mm bed. The first layers are still like glass and the parts I make don't require a perfectly flat bottom.

Extruder skipping, extruder motor overheating?
Check that you don't have a buildup in the extruder causing a jam. Check your filament path. No resistance to the filament coming in. If there's a kink in the line it has to pull through that.
