Octopus 1.1 Firmware Issues + Magic Smoke
Howdy folks, am on the last legs of building my VC4 400(the scary side when you plug it in for the first time).
My Octopus board originally successfully connected to the Pi before I did the electronics installation (registered in DFU mode in the configurator).
Throughout the installation, I followed the instructions to the best of my ability but ran into two separate issues:
1. The power connections (power from the Octopus to power the pi) for the raspberry pi resulted in a cooked pi , if you will. this may be related to my second issue
2. In the instructions for installing the fan jumpers in the electronics section (step 68 of the manual), it had you install the middle jumper. I had accidentally also left the left jumper on, which caused a bout of magic smoke to appear when I first powered the board from the wall. All other jumpers were removed except for the stepper motor jumpers and the power jumper that allows you to power the board via USB.
Now, I can not get any information from the board. It turns on successfully with the green light next to the power jumper and also registers an SD card with the blue light. I have attempted to flash firmware or detect the board via DFU mode in the configurator, as well as tried to flash firmware manually via SD card. There are no results in detecting the board via the configurator.
I am wondering if I've cooked the board completely and need to get a new one, or if there are other alternatives I can try before then.
Help is appreciated,
Zeke
