Connection timed out: getsockopt

Have you verified that your public IP hasn't changed? Can you check the firewall logs on your router? How about aping or tracert to your IP+port? If you haven't already, give the router, MC server and Ubuntu server a reboot (good opportunity to apply updates too!)

Realistically, by using a service like PlayIt you're just proxying, so the opportunities for shenanigans by outside actors are pretty limited

If you're really concerned, throw the host on its own subnet (you could even NAT it from your home network if that's easier for you) and firewall that network off from your existing home network Firewalling like you described you're just going to give yourself headaches when it comes to administration, plus some stuff won't be happy that it can't check for updates

But I do like my own scripts for initial setup. Lots of headscratching on the inital server setup in Crafty, but again, that's gotten better with very recent updates

https://craftycontrol.com/ I've had pretty decent luck with Crafty so far. Honestly since I installed it a few months ago they've patched my biggest annoyances, but its still a bit rough around the edges

Forge server upgrading

Are you able to see memory consumption/CPU load? I've noticed on my MC servers at home I'll see pretty bad lag if the memory consumption gets too high, and 6GB can potentially be insufficient for a Forge modpack

Thank you! what should i use for managing permissions on my servers? Realistically I'll really only need Admins and not, but is it like olden days Bukkit where you use a permission manager plugin that hopefully other plugins support and write up a gigantic yaml file?
