Firewall config

I'm going to be hosting a server on my home network in the future but I set up Playit.gg to route everything through them. Would it be good practice to block most (if not all) other traffic that's not from that specific IP?

Well, it would definetly be a good idea in theory, but as playit doesn't just expose ports (as it creates a tunnel to route the traffic), it wouldn't prevent a lot... So you could do that but you'd then need to change the firewall config once playit's ip change etc.

If you're really concerned, throw the host on its own subnet (you could even NAT it from your home network if that's easier for you) and firewall that network off from your existing home network Firewalling like you described you're just going to give yourself headaches when it comes to administration, plus some stuff won't be happy that it can't check for updates Realistically, by using a service like PlayIt you're just proxying, so the opportunities for shenanigans by outside actors are pretty limited
