Used to consider myself a hobbyist, but now not really. I've been around in online fashion now for nearly a decade and a half. I like the history trivia of fashion and the ways to build outfits like building blocks. I suppose in all I'm more partial to the community side of fashion rather than fashion itself. With the now dead subreddit and now the lovely discord.

Not done this for fashion specifically cause I'm an oldie. But I found using an online whiteboard (Miro or MS Whiteboard) was good for visually grouping things and spotting trends, colours, shapes, etc in pictures before. That's what the old inspiration albums on MFA Reddit were like. Just distillations of themes

Always remember the +3 MTM shirt attempts, and associated oppatunity cost of time and effort, which could be easily fixed by the above strategy I mentioned

Yeah if your MTM measurements are just "one thing" atypical to standard clothing patterns it's fine. i.e. you just need longer/shorter arms but everything off-the-rack tends to fit, then MTM is quite easy.
Problems arise when you have multiple non-standard measurements which need to be accounted for.
Strongly recommend at least one attempt at a MTM in-person fitting and shirt. Then just copy that shirt going forward.

If you're in the USA you'd find them from renaissance fair (ren fair) reenactment dress up stores. Generally also Etsy. Random key words: frilly, ruffle, gothic, renaissance, etc.
