Smart-Casual cardigan thoughts
Thanks! I wasn’t sure about the double monks myself. Think I might toss in some suede desert boots or Chelsea’s and see how that looks. The buttons are an interesting idea too. Never thought to use less buttons on a cardigan.

Besides the jacket sleeves being too long, looking for thoughts on the rest of this outfit.

Purchased a jacket on eBay labeled as a blazer/sportcoat. Did I get an orphaned suit jacket?
Figured it might not worth the money and time if i'd be better off just looking for an unstructured jacket instead

I figured I would have to get it tailored, since the sleeves are a bit long and knew the jacket length seemed to long as well. Just didn't know if it was even worth it if it if its an orphaned jacket.

Thoughts on what color pants would go with this?
That’s what I figured, but since it is patterned (and I don’t have the pants that may have come with it originally), I’m looking for a way to keep it from the landfill. What about a lighter grey pants instead of charcoal? I have both colors, but am still learning what can go with what. My guess is to keep the contrast high so it doesn’t look like a mismatched suit?

Looking for advice on jacket/pants fit
Thank you all for the great advice. As of now, I have decided to just buy a suit (Spier and Mackay Red Label in Navy). The pants actually fit ok I think after trying again, but just not for this outfit. I'll keep them, maybe grab a sport coat to go with them for less formal occasions. The jacket I'll leave alone for now. All in all the whole combo was only $30, so I'm not heart broken the attempt. It was another opportunity to learn

Looking for advice on jacket/pants fit
I have a second pair of pants, but they had a small hole in the back (didn't have them in the picture when I got them). I'll update this post with those pants on. If the color and fit are a bit better, I might just get them hemmed and the hole fixed. It's pretty small, so I would guess someone hemming them could also fix it in a way that isn't terribly noticable without looking closely

Looking for advice on jacket/pants fit
I was hoping to make the jacket a bit slimmer with tailoring. Second-hand jacket, so if I need to alter it or even look for a replacement it wouldn't be the end of the world. Was kind of hoping shortening the sleeves and bringing in the waiste would make it match/fit a bit better.

Yes, navy jacket/grey pants, not a matching suit.

Balmoral Boots vs Oxfords for wedding?
Last question then, any brands I should be on the look out for or avoid? I can mostly tell decent from non-decent in person at thrift shops, but imagine online will be a bit harder

Balmoral Boots vs Oxfords for wedding?
Perfect. Thank you so much for all the information. I have honestly never thought of eBay for second hand clothing, this opens up a dangerous new world for my wallet lol. I’ll also probably just go with oxfords then (or derby captoe, which I always like the look up) as well. I should probably have a nice pair of dress shoes anyway.

If the wedding suits are grey should I try grey blazer, or look for navy?

The ones I was looking at were cotton, slim fit that looked like they should fit over boots. I was trying to avoid poyester, but Amazon kept trying to point me back that way

Balmoral Boots vs Oxfords for wedding?
Probably just the button down. Kind of went in thinking that I would use the shoes forever (been looking at some GYW options). Same with the pants. Might cheap out on the jacket if I can find something decent, since I'd only be wearing it for the ceremony itself

Balmoral Boots vs Oxfords for wedding?
I was definitely afraid about looking to waiter-ey without a jacket, so I'll likely swap out the waist coat for a more regular jacket. Would something more simple work, grey pants/sportcoat (if I am thinking of the right jacket name), simple button down white or grey, bow tie and boots/shoes
