Hmm maybe you’re right about the length - I may let them out around 0.5-1 inch. I tried wearing them lower but the drape goes a bit weird - they feel like they are designed to sit at the natural waist

I have the black wool gabardine one-pleat pants which get the most wear, but I love my dry silk easy pants from a few seasons ago the most. Crap English weather prevents me from wearing them more. The other pair are felted wool that I only wear in winter.

Possibly my favourite brand. Since I started a job with a smart-casual dress code my goal for dressing at work has been to look like I stepped out of a Lemaire show. I’ve got three pairs of trousers and a pair of the twisted belted pants and I love them all so much.

Lemaire twisted belted pants. You can get them cheaper at end of season sales and they pop up on Grailed fairly often

Closet Purge - Topic of the day 6/10/24
I have a few items I nearly donated but then found they work really well with a newer piece, which has given them a sort of new lease of life. It’s made me more careful about getting rid of stuff too quickly. That being said, I should probably sell a bunch of stuff I only reach for a couple of times a year

Pants fitting issue (possibly?)
I don’t think they are too wide - if anything there are too tapered. I think the issue is they have too much room in the hips. This combined with the sharp taper creates that ugly folding effect. Maybe sizing down would help, but honestly I think sell and find a pair that fits your body better - there’s so many fatigues out there you can definitely find a more flattering pair!

Levi’s 501 Comparison
All I can say is they definitely made them a bit slimmer in the 2010s. I bought a new pair in around 2015 and ended up selling because they were too slim compared to my 90s and early 2000s pairs. They also started sewing the pockets on lower sometime in the 2000s (which makes them look worse with a shirt tucked in imo, but I guess is designed to look better sagged? Idk)

High(er) rise chinos/trousers in the UK
Margaret Howell/MHL on eBay/vinted. You would be a size S but ask sellers for measurements. I’m in the UK too and there’s loads of listings for under £100 if you check regularly
