Consider an infinite wire carrying current I and a particle of mass m, charge q and at a distance a from the wire move with velocity v parallel to the direction of current. Due to the magnetic field, the particle gets attracted to the wire, and it turns around at a distance x. Find the value of x.
I don't get the mathematical approach we should take in this question. I tried qv_xB=mv_ydv_y/dy and so on, but it doesn't give a clear answer....
