Ah gotcha! That depends mostly on how you'd like to dress but if you just want something basic that you can also layer on top of it's hard to go wrong with plain crew neck t-shirts. I agree with beans that Uniqlo is a good starting point. You can try on a few different cuts and see what you like. I (and many others here) like Uniqlo U for t-shirts.

These do fit fine though yeah. I like the cream one better over all than the navy

If you're trying to move "beyond just slim fit j crew" then yeah these definitely feel like a step in the wrong direction. Just regular t-shirts would be much more useful base layers IMO

Mostly just the fit. The short overcoats in 2 and 4 as well - people tend to prefer longer coats now.

There are a couple different styles represented there but I don't think I'd recommend docs with any of the outfits you shared. Desert boots would fit right in with the 3rd one though. Also just so you're aware these outfits (especially the skinny pants) look pretty dated and off trend currently. Nothing wrong with wearing them if that's how you want to dress though.

Weird Blazer Button Stance?
I'm not an expert on tailored clothing by any means but I think it's possible this jacket is meant to be an actual 3 button, rather than a 3 roll 2 as it's styled in the picture.

It'll be impossible to know what caused the hole. You could freeze the sweater and then wash it to be safe
