Henley fit help + recommendations (especially for shorter sleeve length?)

Trying to diversify my wardrobe beyond just slim fit J.Crew. These garment-dyed henleys are in S, and I’m getting the sense that I am growing too big for the shirt (it feels quite tight in the sleeves). However I also feel like I’m drowning in their sleeve length and sizing up would just result in even more crumpled rolled up sleeves. I already have another “rugged” henley in a thicker weave and more relaxed cut that I think work for me both fit and sleeve length-wise — I wear this lounging around at home in colder weather. But I’d like something thinner for layering! Let me know where y’all getting your shirts from 🙏

If you're trying to move "beyond just slim fit j crew" then yeah these definitely feel like a step in the wrong direction. Just regular t-shirts would be much more useful base layers IMO

they look totally fine to me. If they're too short they'll ride up a bunch when you raise you arms Try out just some different tee fits from Uniqlo is a good starting point

These do fit fine though yeah. I like the cream one better over all than the navy

These are the ones I currently own! I'm trying to find new shirts basically Same, I put it next to the navy and the navy's sleeve length is a full cuff's length longer!

Ah gotcha! That depends mostly on how you'd like to dress but if you just want something basic that you can also layer on top of it's hard to go wrong with plain crew neck t-shirts. I agree with beans that Uniqlo is a good starting point. You can try on a few different cuts and see what you like. I (and many others here) like Uniqlo U for t-shirts.
