Figuring out what you like
Respectfully, both dressing to match your "lifestyle" and repeating the same silhouette over and over are horrible pieces of advice. I am genuinely sorry that yall haven't found the confidence to wear things outside of your comfort zone but you are both projecting hardcore with these takes.

it's also about what those groups value, too. That suit might look like ass to the average derek guy reader, but that doesn't really matter because it isn't for them.

I think like Sal said it's also something than can be cloth-deep. If ur missing the other pieces of cultural capital outside of dressing, your clothes matter less & less. Which is why undercover cops dress Like That, or why Drake

Totally agree with u. I was being a shit but imo old money dressin is a great example of where fashion falls short of adequately demonstrating cultural capital.

Cultural Capital - Topic of the day 7/1/24
Cultural capital is extremely important. Take, for example, the burgeoning trend of "old money", an aesthetic pursued by those wishing to signal affluence and success, doomed to crumble when one engages with them in a conversation lasting longer than 4 minutes.

Seeking Social Media Fashion Inspiration, What are Your Go-To Platforms?
I've been lurking fashion spaces on the internet for 15 years and this is the only one I've been active in, fwiw. It's just a solid community.

Well, you've got a lot of ralph lauren in those inspo pics and there is no shortage of prl to be found secondhand, tho a month is a short time frame to do that. Uniqlo & jcrew are decent options for the pieces you've posted in the budget you provided.

You can def use the button down as a sort of baseline so you aren't buying totally blind, but the measurements are also useful across garments for your chest, waist, and inseam Fit is something that's very personal, tho, and will vary based on the vibes you want for each outfit.

Seeking Social Media Fashion Inspiration, What are Your Go-To Platforms?
By all means engage on r/mfa if you want to, but many people here have moved on from reddit's prescriptive advice. And, IMO, r/mfa never really grew past its peak (which was nearly a decade ago). Idk there's v much a mindset that they've "solved" fashion over there.

But also engaging with fashion outside of social media is smth id highly rec. Runway shows, lookbooks, history... there's a lot out there beyond socials.

Seeking Social Media Fashion Inspiration, What are Your Go-To Platforms?
Ya imo reddit is pretty dogshit for social media fashion at this point. MFAD (here, this discord, not the subreddit) is cool for the social part and like z and egg said waywt and inspiration are generally pretty great, and discussions are usually engaging and worthwhile. IG & tiktok can be solid for just fits, but you're also gonna be battling the algo the whole time until you find specific accounts u like.

A few Questions about Sperrys and Saxx
Yeah these are honestly a pretty dated silhouette. To your first q tho, upload a fit pic, and maybe ask a coworker? Every workplace has a different culture, and patterned socks would be chill at some or a total miss at others. Regarding sperrys? Idk those are also pretty dated at this point but im sure someone here probably wears them well?

I'd rec posting pics of the saxx pants because most ppl aren't gonna google em and will not be familiar (tho if I had to wager a guess they're probably slim fitting and bad)

- hyped, limited release drops are sick actually, that shit is so cool it's like a trophy - its literally always better to be spending money on the things you want instead of spending less money on things that are kinda like the thing u want - loafers are sick actually - I was always right about big t shirt (fuck you, everyone who said big t shirt was sloppy)
