DH pregen necessary on already pregenerated server world?
Yeah but pre-generating them still takes load off the server shouldn’t it, because simply sending the LOD data to clients is less intensive than generating the LOD data and then sending it to clients. Surely the server doesn’t re-generate chunks that have already been generated just to send them to new clients right?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but if you can you should generate all the LOD data for the world manually. That way it can just be sent to clients and they don’t have to generate it

LOD Bias Issue
Hole is not an overdraw issue strangely enough. It’s only the top faces of blocks that turn invisible. So it appears like a hole in a super flat world. It’s also only a hole with shaders on, with shaders off its just all black

LOD Bias Issue
I just went into the config file and set it to -10 and this seems to have fixed it. Hopefully this doesn’t cause any other issues

Why does increasing vanilla render distance affect DH performance?
The general concept being, if you want high vanilla render distance and DH, rather than running both on the client or both on the server. You can split them up and allow the server cpu to handle all the stuff it normally does, and allow the client cpu to handle only DH

Why does increasing vanilla render distance affect DH performance?
Hm okay. So the application here: let’s assume a multiplayer server can handle very high render distances. If I were to run DH still on the client (not server side) then it should perform much better on a server right? Because the chunk loading would be handled server side leaving a lot more of the client cpu for DH to use

Question about queued chunk updates
Why is it that sometimes I can stand completely still, not even looking around, and it will randomly jump from 0 to like 1200?

Minecraft not Authencating
Just had this same problem. What worked for us was restarting the router for the WiFi. If you’re on a wired connection just unplug it and plug it back in after a second

To clarify, the first photo is from this build. The second with the RC2 build

It should be noted that the photos are representative of only a few trials. Quality was set to Medium, CPU usage at aggressive (6 threads).

LODs updating very slow
Would it be worth considering an “adventure map/pregenerated world” cpu setting? So rather than just having balanced, aggressive, I paid for the whole cpu, etc. you would also have maybe one or two special settings for niche scenarios like the one mentioned above

Certainly one that would be common for things like adventure maps

LODs updating very slow
But yeah with a pregenerated world, obviously distant generation isn’t used, I’m not really concerned about how long the LOD chunks take to load in right after joining the world (within reason), and the LOD chunks get blocks added to them very rarely so they don’t have to update often. It’s purely the detail levels changing as the player moves around. Would be nice to have the option to really optimize DH for this (although quite niche) scenario

I’ll just render the whole world at max quality so that the LOD detail levels never have to update. Surely that will work

Well in the new RC there are no separate threads anymore, it’s all just one amount of threads for DH as a whole

Is there any way for DH to “know” what chunks are loaded?
I still haven’t figured out how to delete chunks from the SQlite file. I can open it with a database viewer, but then how do I know what data to delete to delete specific chunks?
