What about navigating the difference between how you feel wearing something and how it comes across (as it is language, as they say). You mentioned liking Chelsea boots even though they might a have new and different context. For me it was wearing flat caps twenty years ago in an outdoorsy workwear kinda way, but then along comes Peaky Blinders and “ah fuck okay I guess I’m done wearing this.”

Alteration for Tall People
I don’t wear as much street or workwear stuff, but I’m 6’3” 175 and learning to search shirts by measurement instead of size has been a game changer. I went 15 years just rolling up all my sleeves because I thought nothing fit. Searching eBay for Long/Tall cuts and shirts by neck-sleeve measurement has gotten me a lot of stuff that fits and also shown me which brands I tend to fit into. That would probably help

Not a failsafe method, but if a seller isn’t posting material/production tags for name brand stuff (especially even after I ask to see them) then I assume it’s probably fake.
