Again the print fails; I pauze again and the nozzle is (again) too close to the build plate. I've moved up about 0.05 mid print and it still keeps failing.

Now that the new firmware is out I'm still having the same issues. When printing a 30x50 1 layer high testprint I have the following issue: Filament shows signs of being too close to the build plate. I try to microstep but the filament is already rolling up under the nozzle; I then pause the print and give a Z=0 command. I microstep with a 0.2mm feeler gauge and resume printing

one other weird thing: the little blob it makes when starting the print, that one is always perfect. Perfect offset, sticks just fine. It then moves over to the print area and (as it looks like) is either too high or too low

First of all - thank you for answering 🙂 PrusaSlicer does a SET_GCODE_OFFSET=0 by default on the PLA profile, i've tried excluding that but it doesn't seem to have an impact.

V-Core 3.1 300 "shifting" mesh
could this be caused by my beacon? It just seems random; it moves up (and down!) over the course of time. It's driving me nuts - I can check (and save) the Z-Offset and then the next print it's off by over .2 of a mm.

Was 80% through a perfect calibration cube when it got loose from the build plate - but it all seems to work now. Thanks for the assist @cgrr and @TheTik

Slowing down the first layer and upping the temps 10c seems to have done the trick (combined with the 2.1 Beacon tuning)

ok so extrusion test was spot on - 100mm exactly extruded.

the fact that reducing the first layer speed from 60 to 40mm/s does this starts to make me think that it's extruder related

I'm using the default beacon setup that the RC1 provided me now; it does do a beacon home when I start the print. I ran the full suite of tests last night for the beacon. Filament is Kexcelled Basic PLA. One of the things I'm trying now is to slow the first layer down by a bunch to see if that makes a difference
