Was pretty set on a quality Japanese brand tbh (seiko/orient). Not for any particular reason just that I’ve heard good things. I’ve also seen. Hamilton with a very similar look as well. As for the rest…I forgot the difference but since it wouldn’t be worn every day I think one with a small quartz battery(?) would be best.
I think at the end of the day, i just want it to be quality and last, and not some “flavor of the month” so to speak

Ya at least meermin ships to Canada (becket simonon does not). Will look more into those shoes and some loafer options later

From what I understand CH uses brannock, but their size 10 monk didn’t fit whereas their size 10 boat is a hair even on the loose side. I’ll see what I can find or reach out to meermin direct

Any idea how they’d fit in comparison to something like a Cole haan?

I didn’t think it would be like that either, my local options are limited…I can get really cheap ones that don’t fit or ones that are “Italian made” and $1200. It’s crazy really. Likely because it’s, as you said, a not-so-popular style. I did see that Beckett simonon has some but by the time I mess around with shipping etc I’m basically at the price of custom ones anyways with no guarantee of fit. I didn’t mention it but custom is in the 600 range which is doable
As for why I want monks I just really like the look, and feel it’s a not so common option that would kinda pop for the occasion.

Body measurements
@artvandelayimporting I checked a couple whole at the gym and saw mostly female ones and didn’t check many links tbh. Being what I imagine is a fairly individual industry I wasn’t sure if there was consistency amongst tailors for measuring spots.
@awburkey hey beans, welcome to my other suit/fitment/wedding questions. I did reach out and the consultant at spier did say they needed the measurements above (chest, waist, thigh etc) I just wasn’t sure exactly where/how to measure these points as my tailor didn’t want to.

I asked he still said no. And yes, I probably have other local tailors but I’ve worked with this guy a few times already and we have a good rapport. I was hoping to get close enough. Sadly of another tailor is the way to go, that may be it

Body measurements
Not a dumb question - I haven’t tried a ton of off the rack options, mainly as my experience in the past has been less than stellar. I’m a bit oddly shaped with bodybuilder proportions.
I’m getting married in August and S/M has a sage green suit which is the color I want and not available locally except for 3x the price. I want to measure myself and get “close” or see if I can get close enough so it can be slightly altered in 16 weeks when I’m in a different shape

Beckett simonon sizing
Is a half size down from red wing a good gauge? I have a red wing store. Kinda close to me so I could try on a pair of IR and go down a half
