Shoes for backyard wedding

Hey all - getting married in August, picked the suit and watch and all that but not sure which shoes to go with. Originally was shooting for a nice dark brown double monk (still a possibility) but would have to go made to order locally as options are either $100 and garbage or $1300 so no thanks. Wedding is outside/backyard and climate will be rather warm. Thoughts/odeas? Stick with the monk or go more Oxford or loafer or something? Overall fairly casual. Pics of suit: (I’m doing a wide notch lapel though not peak)

Also this is the watch I hope to pick up, fits the theme colors and should be a nice all around occasion piece

I’m not sure why the double monks would either be 100 or 1300 But tbh they don’t get a lot of love anymore Perrrrsonally a more classic oxford might be better and you’ll have plenty of quality options at a decent budget Loafers good too for a summer wedding seiko presage is great that’s a matter of taste atp

I didn’t think it would be like that either, my local options are limited…I can get really cheap ones that don’t fit or ones that are “Italian made” and $1200. It’s crazy really. Likely because it’s, as you said, a not-so-popular style. I did see that Beckett simonon has some but by the time I mess around with shipping etc I’m basically at the price of custom ones anyways with no guarantee of fit. I didn’t mention it but custom is in the 600 range which is doable As for why I want monks I just really like the look, and feel it’s a not so common option that would kinda pop for the occasion.

I had forgotten about meermin, thanks for the link! Any idea how they’d fit in comparison to something like a Cole haan?

I don't, best to figure out your brannock size and figure out how the HIRO last tends to fit

From what I understand CH uses brannock, but their size 10 monk didn’t fit whereas their size 10 boat is a hair even on the loose side. I’ll see what I can find or reach out to meermin direct

You have time to order multiple pairs and return the wrong sizes if you can swing that which is nice

Ya at least meermin ships to Canada (becket simonon does not). Will look more into those shoes and some loafer options later

My only gripe with seikos more ‘budget’ is they’re a bit pricey for what you get. Seiko only throwing a mineral crystal on it when everyone else is using sapphire is disappointing

Any recs on a similar price point with the green face/brown leather? I don’t have a quality watch either way

Brown leather you can just buy whatever leather strap you want down the line and change it out. The real question is do you want automatic/mechanical or okay with quartz? And does it need to be a legacy brand or are you okay with a micro brand or chinese brand? Because green and gilt dials can be found all over the place

Was pretty set on a quality Japanese brand tbh (seiko/orient). Not for any particular reason just that I’ve heard good things. I’ve also seen. Hamilton with a very similar look as well. As for the rest…I forgot the difference but since it wouldn’t be worn every day I think one with a small quartz battery(?) would be best. I think at the end of the day, i just want it to be quality and last, and not some “flavor of the month” so to speak

If you want Japanese look at citizen as well. They’re all in house like seiko and solar quartz is a hell of a convenience with eco drive
