What's wrong with these jeans?
Alright, well good to get that confirmed. I shall go meditate on the nature of drape.

What's wrong with these jeans?
Maybe it's in my head, but I really wish the front would lay flat while I'm standing neutral. Instead I consistently get those folds around the crotch. :/

Just wanna say I appreciate there's people here making the argument for pre-distressed. Thought maybe this'd turn into a one-note discussion, instead I'm hearing some interesting thoughts.

Vintage or secondhand boxy leather jackets <$400, any brands to look out for?
Maybe, but I still think it's a better guide for this category on the second hand market than brand.

Otherwise it's just the usual criteria: look for damage, elaborate details, texture of the material - particularly how well it seems to drape.

Vintage or secondhand boxy leather jackets <$400, any brands to look out for?
There's loads of unknown brands that once upon a time made great leather jackets, so I wouldn't get too hung up on brand. Material is a good signal - 'full grain leather' is the most high-end, 'top grain' is mid, 'genuine leather' is the cheapest. I'd buy any depending on application (genuine leather can even be better for rougher applications or certain aesthetics), EXCEPT synthetic leather. Cowhide is the toughest (often used for biker jackets), lamb I think is the softest.

But you know the buying situation in your area, and I dunno what it's like in America.

By far the best way I've found to buy leather jackets is to find them in flea markets. In certain cities like Amsterdam or Berlin you can find incredible selections of even more incredible jackets at even more incredible prices - no wonder everyone wears them there. But there's some to be found at any large flea market in any city (at least in Europe).

I like that the shirt has a pink hue. Small detail but makes the whole thing very cohesive!

I posted this as a waywt a few days ago. It's very practical - hardy clothes, lots of layers, water tight, pockets, gloves, subglasses, headphones. But also full of sentimental pieces and elements I love: showing the edge of a white tshirt under a pullovers; high waisted jeans in a 1920s cut; that particular leather color in the shoes and jacket; red wires. I'm also wearing a necklace from my grandma and studs from my other grandma. About half the fit is thrifted, including the very high-end jacket. https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1116800072093532191/1299512917707980884

The formality of tweed and chinos
If nobody has said anything then I'm guessing it's fine. People don't care that much about this distinction anymore, and you can get away with stuff when you're more senior. But maybe this gives you a good framing to think about it.

The formality of tweed and chinos
Your awkwardness may stem less from the level of formality as it does from mixing "city and country". Tweed is very associated with country tailoring, while the office is a "city" setting. So it can clash (in terms of tone and cultural heritage) either with the rest of what you're wearing, or with what everyone else is wearing. https://web.archive.org/web/20120711003637/http://www.styleforum.net/t/287922/practical-thoughts-on-coherent-combinations-for-beginners

Relaxed Button Ups for University
How relaxed are we talking? I swear by Charles Tyrwhitt - fabric feels wonderful and their classic cut has a decent amount of room, all for about 1/3 your price. They also have some custom tailoring services.
