It's a good question! A couple of different ideas I had: 1. my fiancée is considering going for a dress with some 50s influences, so I was wondering about some 50s details on a suit (I think I read a blog post of yours about this some time ago...) 2. as the wedding is going to be in a Mediterranean garden, I could go for some kind of more casual, "Riviera" style. I seem to remember seeing some cool inspo albums in this direction back on reddit but I would have to try and unearth them and see if I think it could work 3. as the wedding is going to be in a garden, I could incorporate some green and/or floral elements. I have fewer ideas about what this could look like I find it hard to work out what could actually look good and what would just look odd/costumey 🤷‍♂️

Good question re: budget, I don't totally know yet. Probably in the region of £1k (which I appreciate is only limping into the edge of MTM/MTO territory). I absolutely adore the look of Drake's clothes but historically haven't been able to afford any 😅 . Not familiar with Husbands but will take a look! I actually bought a stone coloured double-breasted linen/cotton suit earlier this year on clearance. It fits pretty well but it's wrinkle city. Still, perhaps the answer is to wear something I already own!

Microcheck sounds like a cool idea! I think I'm in a similar boat in that I have a couple of suits that I like including a mid navy one and a dark charcoal one and so feel an urge to make any new addition ✨ different ✨ but maybe this isn't a sufficiently good reason to go totally off piste

Thanks for replies so far! It's a fair point about the risk involved in doing something non-traditional. My fiancée is pretty fashion-forward and our wedding is shaping up to be non-traditional in some respects (very small in size and in an unusual setting) but I'll have to muse on (a) the chances of pulling it off and (b) the rewearability aspect. Thanks also for the specific recommendations but I neglected to mention that I'm based in the UK

High(er) rise chinos/trousers in the UK
Thanks all for the recommendations! I ordered a pair of chinos from Community Clothing but will keep an eye out on eBay for MHL/Casatlantic (the latter sadly has import duties if buying in the UK due to Brexit, pushing it a bit too far out of my budget). I liked the style of some of the things on Olderbest but it seems that generally they have shorter inseams than I need . Does anyone have any recommendations particularly on the wool trouser front? I appreciate that these might end up being more expensive than cotton but I'm still interested

All things fatigues
I actually couldn't find L sizes anywhere so I didn't even think they did them! I normally wear a 32L but the Stan Ray 32R worked out okay for me. I think due to a combination of the high rise and not minding them being slightly cropped

Do you have any tips for finding vintage fatigues? I see quite a few on Etsy/eBay (e.g. https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/737391381/vintage-mens-british-army-issue-work) but am never sure if they're actually vintage or some faux-vintage dropshipped stuff. This thread has made me want to try some out!

Most versatile style of loafer and how to wear them?
Haha I actually recently ordered precisely these loafers (probably in the same sale) but had to return them as the fit wasn't right. I have come to believe that for loafers in particular it's best to try them on in person before buying. In terms of versatility I think I see more mid/dark brown leather/suede than that colour but equally they were beautiful shoes and I was sad they didn't fit.

best fit of Uniqlo selvedge jeans?
I bought a pair of slim fits in 2019 that are still going but I did find that they gradually shrunk over time and they now feel quite clingy! Something to be aware of

Plain white leather shoes
I found CLAE Bradley to be a reasonable step up from Stan Smiths with nicer leather

I don't know the "correct" answer to this question (and am not familiar with the particular examples you mentioned), but I tend to think of a lot of other milsurp trousers in a different category purely due to the number of pockets they have. The OG-107s just having the simple patch pockets on the front sets them aside in my eyes

Re: the slim point, it's probably a chronic case of "started reading MFA in 2015 and can't let go of slim fits". I don't mind tapered, but something about wide openings around my skinny ankles looks slightly comic to me
