Plain white leather shoes
hi so im tired of busting through stan smiths and other white shoes in months and was hoping for someone to recommend me a pair that minimizes branding and is sub 160~ that’ll last me longer hopefully.
Im in the US

I gotta say Adidas sambas are my favorite in this catafory
Used GATs
if you're talking about MM GATs, nobody's selling them used for under 160
Nah not margiela just used ones in general
Vintage ones
yeah if you get bundeswehr GATs you can get em like new for well under 160
Closer to 60 than 160 for the originals
Myrqvist Oaxen, a bit more than 160, but handcrafted calf leather
wow ive like this but it seems they only have half sizing how do they run, do you think these are worth jt?
I haven't seen better quality for the price - it is handcrafted calf leather .

This is also great , but doesn't look as good imo

I'm thinking of buying but not sure yet
Also not sure about these

i heard thursdays arent as good quality
the oliver cabell is like the best price point for italian leather
but appreciate theyre wide
I have flat feet so I appreciate that
I might get the Oliver cabell then
Also the owners are human garbage
I just got a pair of svensson shoes, slightly cheaper than Oliver cabell, very good quality
Vejas
Leather vans
If you are hoping for a longer lasting shoe than Stan smith, vans are not gonna be your friend lol
Vejas are cool if you don’t mind the branding
Can I ask how you are going through Stans in a few months? You do buy the leather ones, right? Are they falling apart?
My leather authentics lasted almost 2 years with daily wear
What makes you think that they won’t last as long as Stan’s
And I’ve also owned Stan’s
Not gonna lie those don't look that special, and they use a lot of meaningless marketing words like "premium", "handcrafted" etc.
I've owned mine for like 2-3 years and I've definitely had shoes that lasted longer. The leather peels off for me
I'm not saying stans aren't cheap. I'm saying they shouldn't last a few months.
Idk why people buy sneakers from stitched construction brands. Just buy from a brand that’s good at it and has better designs like Nike, adidas, etc
And Nike/adidas/NB/Vans/Converse have economies of scale so you actually get more qUaLitY for the price
Do they have sneakers in a similar silhouette to CPs
For example I see something like this
https://bananarepublicfactory.gapfactory.com/browse/product.do?pid=662548001&vid=1&tid=bfpl000030&kwid=1&ap=7&gad=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwiIOmBhDjARIsAP6YhSWhmxgNTIuDgQHMTUZYR-09kuwuW9EUmulTdAjX1hhjHLF43gezgIkaAkuzEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds#pdp-page-content
But idk about quality
i would not buy a sneaker from a company that doesn't specialize in shoes
and yes there are a lot of minimalist shoes from large companies
and they have their own designs instead of trying to replicate another company's design at a cheaper price
You've already lost the sneaker game
Just buy Sambas or killshots
like if you want "quality" just buy CPs or GATs, and if you want cheapness buy it from one of the megacorps using economies of scale
no matter what a sneaker is gonna last like 2-4 years
its more about how you wear it rather than the quality
there isn't a magic company selling a $400 sneaker for $150
gustin comes close but you'll get the wrong size after not hearing back from them for 6 months
So just cheap out on something like 50-100 bucks from a big shoe brand or buy CPs instead of anything in between is what I'm hearing
i mean, you are trying to buy the most boring sneaker possible, so yes
prob more like $50-$150 but same difference
These good enough for the price or should I look for smth else
no, buy from a shoe company
buy 2nd hand CPs
Hmm I see new ones on eBay for like 250

Is it better to buy CPs new on eBay like this or buy a used pair and just do some maintenance work on em?

Anyone who suggests Common Projects should be sent to a reeducation camp
Quality is stored in the balls gold numbers
I see mixed opinions so I have no idea
Buy CPs buy alternatives buy
If you want a wider shoe, Magnanni (used) has worked well for me
If you want CPs buy them. It's not that hard. People fell in love with GATs and CPs and then immediately started looking for the cheapest possible alternative. Just buy what you like. They're sneakers, it's not rocket science
If you want to be a basic B, get them.
I don't know pricing on Common Projects, but my understanding is that people often pay close to retail for them, which is a ripoff for 95% of shoes you'll see recommended in the fashun space
Jesus they're like 450 at some places. My Geth runners were cheaper than that. <:cat_sob:935234849910947980>
No one I know that owned them paid retail
fr every1 just waits for them to be on sale in frugalmf
They come on sale often? Or you have to dig around
Or like once a year thing

Oh nice
I'll keep an eye out for that and grab one next time they roll around on sale
CPs are massively overpriced for the quality
I got a pair at £150 and that felt about right
I found CLAE Bradley to be a reasonable step up from Stan Smiths with nicer leather
Narrow but the craftsmanship is so tight
I have a pair and the leather feels like plastic
Would buy more Oliver cabells, would not buy Thursday again
Tight as in, very good tolerances/good quality?
Nice
Yes
No weird rippling in the leather like I’ve had with other shoes
Is it realistic to get a better sale than 199 or that's about the going rate
That’s about the going rate
About the narrowness, it’s not that bad if you loosen the laces
I have flat feet so the comfort is always a concern
I heard they tend to be a bit wide though
I have flat feet
First time I’ve heard people calling them wide tbh
The thursdays feel wider
True to size or size up/down?
Just get orthotics
True to size if you don’t mind a bit of break in period
Shoes designed for overpronation are runners/trainers and always ugly
I have like a 9.5-10 so I could probably go with a 10
Yeah sounds like a 10 then
Been looking at snagging another pair but I need to keep myself from becoming addicted to shoes
Eyeing the white leather with transparent sole
Once I get my next paycheck I'll probably grab some
Get some wooden shoe trees to keep the sneakers in good condition
No offense but how did you bust through a pair of stan smiths these things are beat within an inch of their life and I still wear them
this is after like 6 years
Does anyone have any recommendations that are available in the UK? Preferable around £150 or less.
Uniform Standard
They look great, I'll definitely consider getting a pair. Do you know anything about what the quality is like or the sizing? Cheers.
I have two pairs, quality is good, not quite on par with Oliver Cabell but definitely above a mass produced sneaker
They tell you to size up half a size
But that meant sizing up a whole size for me since I’m usually a 9 and they didn’t have 9.5
I really my pair of series 5
*really like
There's a lot of talk here already re leather sneakers, but your question mentions just white sneakers, are you open to other options?
If you're wrecking leather ones in a few months, canvas may be a better option
Canvas ones are harder to keep white though
But if you get leather then you absolutely need to maintain them properly
Regularly wiping
you can toss them in the washing machine
Conditioning once or twice a year
And using a shoe tree

White sneakers look better beat-in rather than pristine
Up to a certain point yeah
There is no limit
And they still fit you well even going up a full size? I'm a UK 9.5 so I'm guessing the 10 will fit me well.
They felt loose at first, but they got comfortable over time
Still on the bigger side but it doesn’t feel like my feet are bouncing around inside now
Just gotta play with the laces a bit
I just had a bad experience with stans , their synthetic leather just doesn't do it for me
Superga maybe?
this is ‘ busted ‘ to me
