Levi’s 501 Comparison
Levi’s 501 jeans are frequently brought up as “timeless” style. And then like clockwork someone will respond that the 501 cut has changed many times as tastes have changed. We are familiar with the general differences between 40s, 50s, and 60s 501s through repros. My question is has anyone done a comparison of more recent 501s? For example 2005 vs 2010 vs 2015 vs now?
I understand that this is probably an impossible task because of the amount of countries and factories used in addition to QC issues and variances in mass produced clothing. And used wouldn’t work for STF due to wash and drying differences. For a true answer a Levi’s designer would need to answer the question or a statistically significant sampling would need to be conducted.
But I’m still curious if anyone has done an initial cursory investigation?

Flat Head Flannel alternatives
I’ve finally decided that Flat Head flannels won’t fit me (even the rare size 46 is a little off). Which is a shame since the fabric is my favorite flannel fabric. Anyone have an alternative that gets close? Iron Heart and 3Sixteen don’t have the same yarn texture or 3D look and feel ( if that is the way to describe the fabric)

Fair Isle Sweater Vest
Does anyone own and wear a fair isle sweater vest? I have been looking at some options and wandering if and how I would wear it. How do people here that have own wear it? Under a sport coat? With an Ocbd, chambray, or denim shirt? Over a white t shirt ala Tyler the Creator?

Old MFA favorite brands
I was pursuing some old MFA posts and encountered a number of brands that used to be popular that I hadn’t heard of in awhile. Some of them no longer exist. I forgot how popular Wolf vs Goat, Epalaut, and Unis all used to be about a decade ago. They all kind of fit into the vague Americana that was popular at the time and were a more expensive made in USA version of J Crew
Anyone else have some forgotten brands?

Left Field NYC
This is maybe my favorite MiUSA raw denim/Americana brand (between this and 3Sixteen). There is a lot I like about this brand. They’re actual workwear line of double knee pants and poly/cotton trousers, good selection of chinos, the Greaser fit, bandana pocket bags, the labels, and the fact the store is in Queens instead of Manhattan.
