Adding poly doesn’t necessarily make something less durable. Dickies work pants are 60/40 cotton/poly blend. I’m currently wearing 100% polyester blend athletic shorts that I’ve had for 19 years. I’ve worn them a lot and they look the same. However, poly is used as a cost cutting measure and a lot of cheaply made clothes are poly blends. But then it might be other factors impacting the durability and not just the poly.
